Malusi Youth Development Organisation was established on 20th February 2015, and registered on 25/05/2015.with registration number 152-983 NPO by visionary team of youth in Malusi informal settlement, Hercules Pretoria. The organisation was established after realisation that most youth living in impoverished communities, especially informal settlements are struggling to continue or complete their education and to have a positive sense of self and place in the world. Since youth in informal settlements are most vulnerable, Malusi Youth Development Organisation intends to work towards changing the environment in which young people live to facilitate their emotional, intellectual, physical, mental and social development growth. To accomplish this goal, young people must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect. The organisation provides educational support and afterschool activities, like Gumboots dance, poetry sessions, dramas, and different sports activities for the disadvantaged children of this Malusi 1 and 2 informal settlement. Due to the absence of basic necessities like running water, electricity, recreations facilities and knowledge centers the children of Malusi 1 and 2 face immense challenges. Not only do these children have to walk to local schools outside Hercules, they cannot afford the cost of uniforms, shoes, lunch and books. It is no surprise that many children turn to drugs and crime at an early age. In a community afflicted with immense poverty, a high unemployment rate of close to 75 percent, a HIV/AIDS rate of about 10 percent, and teenage pregnancy, MYDO enables children to harness their potential and grow into dynamic and skilled individuals who can give back to society.

South Africa faces a severe national crisis of gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF), with rates of killing nearly five times the global average, this is quite hilarious.

Special thanks to responsible men from Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa, SAPS-Hercules and MYDO who came together and participate in a soccer tournament as way to say No to Gender Based Violence and Femicide. .

Among other prominent figures who took to the field and participate is Lt Colonel Ramakgolela, station commander of Hercules SAPS.

GBV-F is a societal issue, Together as partners and community we shall win this battle.

Congratulations to all participants, in particular MYDO for walking away with the Trophy, Hercules SAPS coming at second position and CCBSA in third position.

We are proud and honored to have hosted MEC of Gauteng Department of Social Development during Tshwane Region NPO Roadshow. The event brought over 200 delagates from Various NPO's in Tshwane Region. From Shelters, Homeless, VEP, CNDC, HIV and AIDS, Social and welfare, Skills development organisations to mention few.

Gauteng Department of Social Development MEC Nomantu Nkomo Ralehoko led the Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) Roadshow, , engaging Non-Profit Organisations on good governance, compliance and funding requirements to strengthen partnerships and improve service delivery to vulnerable communities.

In partnership with Community Media Trust CMT, today we have confered the first cohort of STEP Program of 2026. Graduations were preceded over by reps from CMT, MYDO and NYDA. This was an intense three months entrepreneurial program hosted at MYDO Centre.

We have partnered with Community Media Trust (CMT) which runs the STEP program, which stands for Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion.

What it is: A 12-session practical entrepreneurship and business training course.

: To teach young people and aspiring business owners essential financial literacy, business management, and practical skills to start or grow small businesses.

: It forms part of broader youth and community empowerment initiatives (such as the DREAMS program and Safe Spaces) to support young entrepreneurs, particularly young women, in building sustainable livelihoods.

As initially committed, all graduates walked away with a whooping R1000 each as contribution to start-up capital. Some of them have already started purchasing stock, equipments and other necessities to kick-off and to further grow their businesses.

We wish them well and all partners committed to continue supporting them further.
