Malusi Youth Development Organisation was established on 20th February 2015, and registered on 25/05/2015.with registration number 152-983 NPO by visionary team of youth in Malusi informal settlement, Hercules Pretoria. The organisation was established after realisation that most youth living in impoverished communities, especially informal settlements are struggling to continue or complete their

education and to have a positive sense of self and place in the world. Since youth in informal settlements are most vulnerable, Malusi Youth Development Organisation intends to work towards changing the environment in which young people live to facilitate their emotional, intellectual, physical, mental and social development growth. To accomplish this goal, young people must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect. The organisation provides educational support and afterschool activities, like Gumboots dance, poetry sessions, dramas, and different sports activities for the disadvantaged children of this Malusi 1 and 2 informal settlement. Due to the absence of basic necessities like running water, electricity, recreations facilities and knowledge centers the children of Malusi 1 and 2 face immense challenges. Not only do these children have to walk to local schools outside Hercules, they cannot afford the cost of uniforms, shoes, lunch and books. It is no surprise that many children turn to drugs and crime at an early age. In a community afflicted with immense poverty, a high unemployment rate of close to 75 percent, a HIV/AIDS rate of about 10 percent, and teenage pregnancy, MYDO enables children to harness their potential and grow into dynamic and skilled individuals who can give back to society.

As we embark on Mandela day initiatives, which is in essence a global call to action urging individuals, communities, and organizations to take responsibility for changing the world for the better. Likewise today in partnership with GDSD we distributed 100 food parcels to our community.

We still urge other corporates, organisation's and government departments to partner with us throughout the month of July as part honoring the 67 minutes of Mandela day.

Let's collaborate, join hands to better our communities, our themes this year includes:

: The philosophy of Ubuntu—meaning "I am because we are"—is central. It emphasizes shared humanity and the deep interconnectedness of all people.
: Moving beyond charity, it inspires people to engage in sustainable social change, combatting pressing global challenges like poverty, food insecurity, and inequality.
: It serves as a reminder to adopt Mandela's values—empathy, reconciliation, and selfless service—into our everyday lives rather than just marking a single day of the year

Our students are currently busy with their practicals at F&O Training Centre. They will soon be finishing their basic plumbing skills program.

We are looking for potential employers to absorb them for inservice training, leanerships, internships or any entry level jobs that will enable them to aquire work experience or earn a living.

Supporting youth with skills is essential for driving economic growth, reducing unemployment, and fostering social stability. By bridging the skills gap, young people are empowered to navigate career paths, innovate, and avoid negative social influences.
