I have received many enquiries about what we can expect on the 30 June 2026, and would like to use this oppurtunity to put everyone at eaze.
The planned protests and road closures are not aimed at our community, but merely a sign of frustration from citizens. Be that as it may any protest and road closures affect our lively hoods and Supply chains can be disrupted, transportation and freedom of movement can be limited and there can always be a danger to persons and property when frustration of such a gathering kicks in. Group dynamic psycgology of a crowd can be very spontaneous and it can turn violent.
What we expect:
There will be sporadic Disruptions especially in Townships, Industrial Areas and the C*D from today going forward. This will then lead up to a large protest in the C*D to the Union Buildings on the 30 June. There is a risk of some gatherings turning violent, but most organisers are trying to ensure peaceful gatherings.
Traffic can also be disrupted as some groups have threatened to close major routes in and out of Townships and major routes like the N1 and N4.
What we have prepared:
We have heightened our preparedness and are mobilising patrols to monitor the situation and to ensure a high visibility. We have had numerous meetings with Law Enforcement and will assist where we can to ensure a peaceful environment. There will be a drone deployed to monitor gatherings. We have taken hands with all surrounding Security Forums, SAPS stations and CPFs to assist where we can and to ensure smooth communication.
We assure you thay most Estates have made emergency contingency plans and that we are seeing your safety as our highest concern.
