"Niger Delta's Gentle Breeze"
A poem by
Charity E Aigbekaen Yusuf Charity Eagle Aigbekaen Yusuf
In southern Nigeria's lush embrace,
The Niger Delta's beauty takes its place,
A land of wonder, rich and wide,
Where rivers flow, and cultures reside.
Edo's ancient Benin, a kingdom's pride,
Delta's waters, where fish and dreams glide,
Akwa Ibom's warmth, a smile so bright,
Rivers State's heartbeat, vibrant with delight.
Cross River's forests, where nature's secrets sleep,
Bayelsa's creeks, where mangroves softly creep,
Ondo's coastline, where the Atlantic waves play,
A symphony of cultures, in a joyous way.
The people, diverse, with hearts so kind,
Welcome strangers, with a generous mind,
Their traditions, a treasure to behold,
A heritage of hospitality, forever to unfold.
Their languages, a melody so sweet,
Their dances, a rhythm that can't be beat,
Their cuisine, a flavor that's rich and bold,
From black soup to banga soup to edikako and fisherman soup, we all talk about Ghana Jollof and Nigeria Jollof but if we are all honest nobody makes a better Jollof than that Oruobo Women,
A culinary journey, worth savoring to the full.
Oh, Niger Delta, land of beauty rare,
Your people's love, a treasure beyond compare,
May your rivers flow, with waters pure and clean,
And your people's smiles, forever be serene.
