Friends of Groenkloof and Klapperkop Nature Reserves Nonprofit org. | Mission: Maintain & preserve the utilization & conservation of these reserves. We can only do this with your help.

The Friends of Groenkloof and Klapperkop Nature Reserves are a non-profit volunteer based organization with the aim to maintain and conserve these nature reserves in Pretoria, South Africa. Some of the past projects include: Security upgrades, game fence, road game grids, reintroduction of wild animal species, rehabilitation, tree planting, MTB trails, removal of wattle and invasive alien plants, signage, etc. To see how you can become a Friend, send us a DM! ❓️Did you know red hartebeest are among the fastest antelope, able to sprint at around 90 km/h and keep a strong pace over long distances. They're also known for posting a lookout: one animal stands on a termite mound while the herd grazes, scanning for predators like lions and hyenas.

A quiet walk through Klapperkop Nature Reserve can turn into an unforgettable birding moment. 👀🐦

This beautiful Brown-crowned Tchagra was recently photographed at Klappies. A shy little resident that can be tricky to spot, but well worth the wait!

Whether you’re a seasoned birder or simply enjoy discovering Pretoria’s wildlife, Klapperkop is waiting to surprise you.

FREE ENTRY | Open daily 06:00–18:00 (gates close at 17:00 for last entry)

Bring your binoculars, take your time, and keep your eyes (and ears!) open. You never know who might be watching from the bushes.
