🌳 Celebrate Arbor Month by helping us discover Tshwane’s remarkable trees!

With the support of the City of Tshwane | Official (Page) , Big Trees of Tshwane is building a record of the city’s exceptional trees, the big, the old, the beautiful and the simply extraordinary.

And we need your help to find them.

Look around your garden, street, neighbourhood, school or local park. If there’s a tree that makes you stop and look twice, nominate it for the Big Trees of Tshwane list.

📍 You don’t need to know the species or measure it yourself. Just send us a few photos and its location, and we’ll take it from there.

🌳 The next big tree on our map could be in your neighbourhood.

🌳 Arbor Month means it’s time for a Big Trees road trip!

This September, we’re packing the measuring gear and heading out on our Tour de SANParks, visiting four national parks as part of the Big Trees of SANParks project.

We’ll be searching for, measuring and documenting remarkable trees. Follow along for updates from the road, photos, tree stories and, hopefully, a few exciting discoveries.

Four parks. Plenty of kilometres. One little Suzuki SA Jimny. And lots of trees to find. 🌳🚙

A big thank you to South African National Parks for their involvement and support in making the Big Trees of SANParks project possible.

Searching for big trees in Kruger, but ended up finding a whole lot of personality instead! 🐾👀

Waldie ran into five young hyena cubs right in the middle of the Skukuza staff village. From tiny, dark pups to older, spotted "managers" keeping watch, it turns out a stormwater pipe under the road makes a pretty cozy den!
