🌟 **Introducing a New Chapter of Hope** 🌟

AFM Welfare is proud to launch a life-changing initiative for young adults who’ve aged out of foster care with no family to turn to. Through this program, we offer them a safe home at Dorandia Child and Youth Care Centre, a chance to pursue further studies, and the loving guidance of a dedicated house mom who ensures their wellbeing and academic success.

These resilient young people deserve more than survival—they deserve support, dignity, and a future filled with possibility. This is our way of saying: you are not alone, and your dreams still matter.

Stay tuned for ways you can help us make this vision sustainable—every contribution counts 💛

This is Dorandia Children’s Home

Dorandia Children’s Home has existed in Pretoria North for many years. A normal home environment is created for the children entrusted to us by the uMephi head office. Children are cared for through the uMephi project in normal houses integrated into communities, rather than in big orphanages with large numbers of children in single institutions. Her a housemother cares for her children with help from a housekeeper, along with local community and church assistance.

Initially our children are taken into the custody of the state when their home situation or living conditions are not providing adequate emotional or physical care. Through the Department of Social Development they are then placed with uMephi for care. Some stay for several months or a few short years if they are able to be adopted or if their family situation improves dramatically. Others may spend their entire childhood with us. We never have more than ten children with us.

Each child is unique in their personality and we have a mix of boys and girls filling our home with their smiles, their cute sayings and at times their tears. It remains a joy to see them developing as young people, finding their feet in their school classrooms and overcoming the challenges that life has thrown in their direction. Each story is worth hearing; each victory is worth celebrating; and each person lending a hand is worth appreciating! Thank you for your interest and your assistance!
