The Brotherhood (Connection & Community)

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at PE West 142?
It’s a lot more than just organizing projects and sitting in meetings. It’s about a brotherhood.

Being a Tabler means having a continuous support structure of like-minded men who have your back, both in business and in life. We laugh together, debate together, and push each other to be better men, father, partners, and citizens.

When you join Table, you aren't just joining a club, you're gaining a family.

Here is what it means to some of our own:

" For me, Round Table is not just something I belong to, it is a vehicle through which I serve, lead, grow, and build lifelong friendships while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Being a Tabler for me means standing shoulder to shoulder with a group of young gentlemen who are committed to making their community better, developing themselves as leaders, and creating memories that last a lifetime. It is about service with friendship, leadership with humility, and leaving the organisation stronger than you found it and so too the world." – Dewald Niemand.

Are you a young man under 40 looking for connection, purpose, and personal growth?

The table is always open. Message us to find out how you can attend our next meeting.

PE West 142 showing up in full force!

PE West 142 proudly raided the Algoa 108 business meeting - and what a powerful presence we made.

Every single PE West 142 member was in attendance, showing the unity, commitment, and strength that define our table.

When we move together, we make an impact. Proud of the brotherhood, the support, and the standard we continue to set.

PE West 142 was fully represented, fully engaged, and fully present.

MEET THE COUNCIL: The Man in side the Machine!

Next up in our Meet the Council series, we are introducing the guy who is learning to keeps us all in line, on time, and properly documented, our Secretary, JD Bigge!

We threw our 3 burning questions at him. Here is what JD had to say:

1. The Fellowship Fuel
The Question: What is your ultimate, go-to "fellowship fuel" after a long project or during a Table raid?

JD's Answer: Honestly from deep down nothing beats eating a simple Boerewors roll next to a fire and an ice-cold coke zero for me after a long project or Table raid to other Tables. I love the good food, i'm crazy about the great fellowship among al the tablers, and making memories together, that’s the real fuel that keeps me coming back every time

2. The R10,000 Wild Card
The Question: If you had a R10,000 budget for a Table project that HAD to be spent on something wildly fun or unconventional, what are we doing?

JD's Answer: I’d organise something crazy...
Like a Random Acts of Kindness day where we as Table of Pe West 142 go out together, probably in silly outfits but definitely with our Table shirt to show people who we are, just spreading good vibes around town, paying for someone’s groceries at any Store, surprising petrol attendants with some generous tips, dropping off food packs to families in need, and making people smile for no reason because everyone deserves to smile. For me as John David Bigge... Table is all about fellowship and making an impact changing our community, and there’s nothing better than laughing together while genuinely making someone’s day so much brighter.

3. The Unforgettable Moment
The Question: What is the single funniest or most unforgettable moment you’ve experienced since joining the Table?

JD's Answer: It’s honestly hard to pick just one moment because Table has already given me so many great memories, but the Algoa 108 Jam Jar Rally 2025 at Kirkwood Golf Club stands out. Fellow Tabler started casually stuffing knives, forks, and even a tomato sauce bottle into his jacket while saying, “It’s for the children!”, a legendary throwback to ARTSA Mossel Bay 2024. The best part was when he stood up and everything came crashing down and the whole table bursting into laughter, it was one of those perfectly unplanned moments that sums up Table for me, brotherhood, humour, and memories you’ll laugh about for years.

Behind every great Secretary is a mountain of paperwork, JD is new to this role and with the assistance of our Chairman, he will be embracing the task.

Hard Truth #1: "I'm fine" is doing more damage than you think.

As men, we’ve been conditioned to use "I’m fine" or "I'm good, just busy" as a shield. It's the ultimate conversation-killer because it protects us from being vulnerable, but it also traps us inside our own heads.

For Men’s Mental Health Month, let’s call it what it is: a defence mechanism. When you say you’re fine but you’re actually Red-Lining, you give the people around you permission to keep walking. But you also deny yourself the relief of sharing the load.

It’s Check-in Tuesday at PE West 142. If a brother asks, “how you are today?”, break the habit. You don’t have to deliver a tragedy script… Just give them the unfiltered percentage. "Honestly, man? I’m at about 40% today." Let's start there.

A Text or Call can change someone else’s destiny. Be there and just Listen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A TRUE LEGEND!

Today, Round Table PE West 142 raises a glass to a man who has left an indelible mark on our table, our brotherhood, and our community. A very Happy Birthday to our phenomenal former Chairman and past Tabler, Cornel Strydom!

Cornel has given years of dedicated service, leadership, and unmatched fellowship to PE West 142. While he may have officially taken the seat as a 41er, the impact of his time active at the table is still felt every single day.

Thank you for the leadership, the laughs, and for always embodying what it means to adopt, adapt, and improve. We hope you have an incredible day filled with cold beers, great company, and everything you wished for!

MEET THE COUNCIL: The Captain of the Ship!

We’ve cleared the funds with the Treasurer. Now, it’s time to meet the man at the helm… our Chairman, Dewald “JaJa the Wise’ Niemand!

Dewald is the one steering the ship this year, leading from the front, and making sure our fellowship is strong and our community impact is massive. We took a break from the official agenda to hit him with our 3 burning questions:

1. The Fellowship Fuel
• The Question: What is your ultimate, go-to "fellowship fuel" after a long project or during a Table raid?

• Dewald's Answer: A nice piece of steak, a single Spice Gold and coke, a shot of anything and plenty of laughter.

• 2. The R10,000 Wild Card
• The Question: If you had a R10,000 budget for a Table project that HAD to be spent on something wildly fun or unconventional, what are we doing?

• Dewald's Answer: I'm hiring a bus, loading up the Tablers, and heading off on an epic mystery road trip. No one would know where the destination would be, but there will be challenges, fellowship, ridiculous team activities, and memories we'll still be talking about years later.

3. The Unforgettable Moment
• The Question: What is the single funniest or most unforgettable moment you’ve experienced since joining the Table?

• Dewald's Answer: It's impossible to pick just one! Somewhere between a Table raid gone completely off script. Personally, the ARTSA trip to Mossel Bay with Cornel Strydom when he made a statement that he has never seen me intoxicated and that I am too responsible. Well, he will have his version, and I will have mine and will be different from heaven to earth. I will now invoke the American legal system and just say... I plead the 5th... it was obviously one hell of a good weekend.

It takes a lot to keep our rowdy bunch moving in the same direction, and Dewald does it with a smile. Drop a comment below to show our Chairman some love!

And tell us: If you were the Chairman for a day, what's the first rule you would make? Comment below.

Gqeberha, you have a heart of gold… but the cold is coming.

A massive THANK YOU to our incredible community! Because of your generosity so far, we’ve already started collecting a fantastic amount of clothing and bedding for the Round Table Winter Knights campaign. Your donations are going to make a world of difference to those facing the harsh winter elements.

But our mission isn't over yet.

Looking at the upcoming weather forecast for Gqeberha, the temperature is about to drop, and the winter rains are on their way. For thousands of displaced and vulnerable people in our city, a wet and freezing night isn't just uncomfortable—it’s a battle for survival.

We need your HELP to ensure no one is left freezing in the dark.

If you are clearing out your closets this week, please drop off your warm clothes, jackets, blankets, or sleeping bags at either of our official drop-off points:

John Dory's (Baywest Mall) – Perfect for dropping off while you're doing your weekly shopping or grabbing a family bite.
Debt Review Centre (Burt Drive) – A quick and convenient stop-off during your daily commute.

Let’s bundle up our community and show what PE West 142 and Gqeberha can do when we stand together.
