Plettenberg Bay Sea Scouts Group

Plettenberg Bay Sea Scouts Group The Aim is to contribute to the development of boys, girls and young adults in achieving their full potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens!!!

Our youth training programme is an advancement system where Scouts are allowed to progress at their own pace. It allows for experiential learning and contributes to their personal development. Cub, Scouts and Rovers acquire Advancement and Interest Badges as part of their journey. By learning new skills and forming lasting friendships through the Scout programme, generations of Scouts have grown u

p to become some of our nation’s most outstanding leaders! Our methodology is a system of progressive self-education through:

- Our Promise and Law

- Learning by Doing. This takes place through result-driven, hands-on activities where Scouts can later evaluate what they have learnt. Learning by doing is far more meaningful, memorable, and long lasting and it deepens the understanding of concepts and mastering of practical skills.

- The Patrol System, i.e. membership of small groups under adult guidance. This enhances involvement, progressive discovery and acceptance of responsibility, training towards self-government and the development of character, the acquisition of competence, self-reliance, dependability and capacities both to co-operate and to lead.

- Progressive and stimulating programmes and a variety of additional activities and projects based on the interests of the members, incl. games, useful life skills, services to community,

-Adventure. By creating challenging opportunities for the members to experience we strive to provide a platform for members to practice and develop skills in accordance with the aims of SCOUTS South Africa.

🔥 Last Meeting of the Term 🔥

We wrapped up the term in style, sharing a great evening together with our Cub Pack. Moments like these really highlight the importance of the connection between our Pack and Troop.

Building these relationships gives our Cubs something to look forward to — helping them feel excited, confident, and ready to take the next step when their Cubbing journey comes to an end and their Scouting adventure begins.

A very warm welcome to Grace and her mom on joining our Troop, and congratulations to Grace on being invested as a Scout last night — we’re excited to have you as part of the team and look forward to the journey ahead!

Thank you to our Scouts for setting such a great example, showing leadership, and making the Cubs feel part of the bigger Scouting family.

Yesterday afternoon, Akela ran the Cubs Swimming Badge assessment, and wow — the Cubs did incredibly well! They truly made us all proud.

Earning the Swimming Badge is an important milestone, as Cubs need to complete it before they can take part in any swimming activities.

This helps ensure everyone understands and practices essential water safety.

Well done, Cubs — fantastic effort all around! 🐺💙

The Scout National Challenge 2026 has officially begun! ⚜️💧

This year’s theme is “Be Water Safe”, encouraging Scouts to learn important water safety skills, build confidence around water, and understand how to stay safe while enjoying our rivers, lagoons, and oceans.

Throughout the year, Plett Scouts will be taking on activities and challenges that promote awareness, responsibility, and safety around water.

We’re excited to see our Scouts grow their skills and lead by example in our coastal community! 🌊💪

🐾 Cubs Visit PAWS - Plett Animal Welfare Service (Plettenberg Bay, SA) ! 🐾

A big thank you to everyone who joined our visit to PAWS today! It was an eye-opening experience for our Cubs.

We often don’t realise the incredible work that happens behind the scenes at places like this, and today we only got to see a small glimpse of what they truly do — and wow, they do a lot!

A special thank you to Robert and Danelle for hosting us and taking the time to show us around and share the amazing work being done to care for and protect these animals.

And a reminder to everyone:

Don’t buy… Adopt! 🐶🐾❤️

Adventure is closer than you think.

Across the Garden Route, Scouts are lighting campfires, learning real-life skills, building confidence, and forming friendships that last long after the uniforms are folded away. From first knots to first leadership moments, it’s all happening right here in the Outeniqua District.

But some of our local Scout Groups need a few more boots around the fire. 👣

If you have a child who:
🔥 loves the outdoors
🤝 wants to make real friends
💪 could grow in confidence
🌍 is ready for something bigger than a screen

…we’d love to connect.

👉 Follow our page to see what Scouts in the Outeniqua (Garden Route) District are getting up to this year.
👉 Send us a message if you’d like to find a Scout Group near you.
👉 Tag a parent who should see this.

This is the start of something special for 2026. Let’s grow Scouting in our community, together.
