🐣🌱 SOMETHING NEW IS HATCHING IN PARYS!

We’ve just launched a new season of chicken egg incubation — and the journey has begun!

Over 55 eggs have already been placed into incubation, with capacity to grow the project to as many as 300 eggs in future.

If all goes well, our first little chicks should be hatching in around 6 weeks! 🐥

But this is about more than chickens.

It forms part of the ongoing vision of the Parys Agricultural Network (PAN) to develop local food production, practical agricultural skills and sustainable opportunities within our community.

The aim is to grow quality, ethically produced and organic food while building the knowledge, infrastructure and supply networks needed to strengthen local food security.

From incubation…
➡️ to hatching
➡️ to rearing
➡️ to production
➡️ and eventually into the wider local food network.

It’s another small step towards a much bigger vision.

The project is managed and run through PAN, with a focus on community participation, learning, quality and long-term sustainability.

🌱 COMMUNITY AT WORK – LOOK WHAT’S GROWING! 🌱

There is something really encouraging happening at the Parys Info & Tourism.

The community planters are growing beautifully, and with the right care and continued support, we are looking forward to a plentiful harvest! 🥕🌿❤️

A special thank you goes to the youth group from Overcomers, who have been faithfully looking after the planters and doing a fantastic job. Their commitment is a great example of what can happen when young people are given the opportunity to get involved, learn new skills and take ownership of something that benefits the wider community.

Also a shout out to Daan Naude who assisted in teaching and growing the project.

This project is about more than growing vegetables.

It is about growing:
🌱 Food security
🌱 Practical agricultural skills
🌱 Youth involvement
🌱 Community responsibility
🌱 Local food production
🌱 A stronger local network

These community beds form part of the wider vision behind the Parys Agricultural Network (PAN) — developing local farming and food production while creating opportunities for people and communities across the region.

And now we're beginning to see the results!

From seed to soil, from planting to harvest — every stage is a reminder that meaningful change takes time, commitment and people willing to get involved.

🌱 LOOK WHAT'S GROWING... 🌱

Sometimes the biggest changes begin with the smallest shoots.

Just a few weeks ago, the community garden at the Parys Info & Tourism Centre was little more than an idea shared by a group of people who believed that, together, we could build something meaningful for our community.

Today, we're excited to see our first crops growing strongly!

🌿 Spinach
❤️ Beetroot

Every healthy seedling represents more than fresh produce—it represents hope, collaboration and the beginning of a stronger local food network.

This community garden is one of several initiatives supported by the Parys Agricultural Network (PAN), helping demonstrate what can be achieved when local people, organisations and volunteers work together.

Our vision extends far beyond these garden beds.

We are working to:
🌱 Strengthen local food security.
🌱 Grow a connected network of local farmers and producers.
🌱 Support ethical and sustainable farming.
🌱 Create skills development and apprenticeship opportunities.
🌱 Build local supply chains that benefit businesses, organisations and families.
