Rider of the Month: Zac Solomon

Zac has been putting in the work all month, showing up and pushing himself every ride. That commitment paid off at the Tour de Worcester, where he took 2nd place in the U17 category over 107km.

That's a long, hard day in the saddle, and Zac rode it like a man on a mission. Proud of you, Zac.

Keep chasing it.

Road safety starts with seeing the road from someone else’s seat.

This Transport Month, we’re shining a light on an important topic that affects all of us, road safety.

We believe creating safer journeys is a shared responsibility. It starts with understanding different perspectives and looking out for one another on the road.

We brought together one of our DSV SHIFT Academy riders and a DSV driver for a simple exercise: stepping into each other’s shoes.

It’s a small shift in perspective, but one that can change how we drive, how we ride and how we share the road.

Look out for our next post to see what they discovered and how seeing the road from someone else’s perspective can help us all contribute to safer roads.

This October, our riders are raising a fist for every woman fighting breast cancer, every survivor, and every family that’s walked the road with someone they love. 🎗️

Most of us know someone who’s been affected. Behind every rider on this team is a mom, a gran, a sister or an aunt who keeps them going, and this month we’re riding for them.

Check yourself, book that screening, and remind the women in your life to do the same. Early detection saves lives.

In 2022, Yahyaa Martin arrived as the youngest rider in the very first DSV SHIFT Academy group.

Today, he's been officially selected to represent South Africa at the Youth Olympic Games.

Every early start. Every hard interval. Every race that didn't go to plan. It all led to this moment.

This is what a dream looks like when it's backed by the right people around it. Coaches, sponsors, teammates: this one belongs to all of you.

So proud of you, Yahyaa. Go make the green and gold proud. 🙏🚴‍♂️

What a weekend in Oudtshoorn! 🚴‍♂️

Our riders took on the Oudtshoorn Youth Cycling Festival and gave it everything. Hard racing, good lessons, and plenty of laughs off the bike. Road trips like this are where the real team-building happens.

Well done to every rider who lined up, and thank you to the organisers for a brilliant event. Great to race alongside so many talented young cyclists from around the country.

In a bunch, the rider on the front absorbs the wind so everyone behind can hold the pace. Nobody stays there forever. You do your turn, you swing off, and someone else comes through.

It’s a fair way to think about heritage. Everything our riders have access to now, the coaching, the kit, a proper racing calendar, exists because someone did a turn on the front before them.

That is our objective at DSV SHIFT Academy: developing young riders who are ready to lead when the road opens up in front of them.

Happy Heritage Day.🇿🇦
