Student-led learning in action!

Our Grade 11 Navigator students are taking the lead by creating and running clubs for their peers, turning their interests into opportunities to learn, lead and build real-world skills.

💻 Coding Club — Sabelo
Exploring coding, problem-solving and the opportunities of an AI-driven world.

♟️ Strategy Club — Samanah
Using board games and strategic thinking to explore solutions to modern-day problems.

💜 Girls Club — Mbali, Fundiswa & Seluliwe
Creating a space for girl empowerment, confidence and navigating the challenges of teenage life.

These clubs are more than activities, they’re opportunities for students to take ownership, lead others, communicate ideas and learn by doing.

Some conversations leave a lasting impact.

This past Saturday, we had the privilege of welcoming Liz Mackintosh from The Journey to Imagine Scholar for a powerful session with our students. Through meaningful conversations and reflection, our students were encouraged to grow in self-awareness and step more confidently into who they’re becoming.

A huge thank you to Liz and The Journey for investing your time, wisdom, and heart into our young people. We’re so grateful for your partnership and the impact you’ve made.

Coach Spotlight: Precious Mkhwanazi ✨

At Imagine Scholar, we believe stories have the power to change lives and is helping students discover exactly that.

As our Poetry and Creative Writing Program Coordinator, Precious has been building a culture of poetry and creative writing across the local schools we partner with. Through her work, students are finding their voices, challenging the limiting stories they tell themselves, and beginning to write new ones rooted in possibility, confidence, and purpose.

What makes this even more meaningful is that Precious is an Imagine Scholar alumni who has come back to invest in the next generation. Her journey is a reminder of what’s possible when young people are given the opportunity to grow and then choose to return and help others do the same.

Thank you, Precious, for helping our students find the courage to tell their stories. đź’›

The power of the Imagine Scholar network is that wherever you go, you’re likely to find an Imagine Scholar student or alum.

We’re proud of our Grade 12 students who attended the SAICA Camp:
Jonas (Gebhuza Secondary School), Siphelele and Nelson (Joseph Matsebula Secondary School), Precious (Mahhushe Agricultural School), and Philani and Akhona (Camalaza Secondary School).

We’re proud of how they continue to represent their schools, their communities, and the Imagine Scholar network. We can’t wait to see all they continue to achieve! 💙

🏆♟️ Growing Through Competition

This week, Imagine Scholar proudly hosted a Chess Tournament on our campus, bringing together 72 students from 13 schools for a day of strategy, learning, and growth.

For many students, this was their first experience playing in a formal tournament. More than just competing for medals, the day was about stepping outside their comfort zones, challenging themselves against new opponents, and discovering how much they can grow through competition.

Every game strengthened critical thinking, resilience, focus, and sportsmanship, and it was inspiring to watch students leave with greater confidence in their abilities.

A special thank you to Kemet Lifestyle for generously providing refreshments for our players. Your support helped make the day even more memorable, and we truly appreciate your partnership.

What happens when alumni come together to invest in the next generation?

In this video, Ntuthuko, Program Coordinator for the Legacy Network, introduces the Alumni Outreach Initiative—a collaborative effort between 35 Imagine Scholar alumni working to create a sustainable alumni fund that will support tutoring, university application assistance, NBT preparation, and future youth-focused ventures.

Rooted in a deep understanding of the challenges facing students and young people in Nkomazi, this initiative is about more than meeting immediate needs. It is about building a long-term, alumni-led model for creating opportunities, solving community challenges, and ensuring lasting impact for generations to come.

Ever wondered what a day in the life of a Pathfinder Coach looks like? ✨

Pathfinder is our high school program built on a simple but powerful belief, that every student who wants to be part of something should have a community to belong to. It's a space where young people are seen, challenged, and championed as they discover who they are and what they're capable of becoming.

Behind every lesson is a relationship, and behind every relationship is a coach showing up with intention, heart, and hope. Step into a day with us and see the love, laughter, and quiet moments of impact that make this journey so special. 🌟

What makes a space feel different?

It’s not just what happens — it’s how it feels. The chants, the shared energy, the moments that bring everyone into sync.

This one found its way to us through the African Leadership Academy… and now it’s part of who we are.

This past weekend, our Pathfinders stepped into a different kind of classroom.

Through chess, they explored what it means to know who you are, understand who you can become, and focus on what you can control.

After a series of shared games and deeper conversations, students built confidence, practiced kindness, and leaned into a community that chooses growth.

Congratulations to our recent GRADUATES !!! 🎓✨

At Imagine Scholar, we don’t just celebrate achievements, we celebrate the journeys behind them. Today, we honour our alumni who’ve reached an incredible milestone through years of grit, growth, and showing up for themselves again and again.

Their story is courage in action. Their progress reflects the work, the discipline, and the belief they’ve carried even when it wasn’t easy.

And this? This is not the finish line. It’s their launchpad.

We’re proud of you. We celebrate you. And we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make on the world. 🤩🤩
