Founded in 2009, Northwood Children’s Hospice is a registered NPO providing holistic care to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, along with vital support to their families and communities across the Eastern Cape.

Our goal is to improve quality of life, reduce child mortality, and create lasting change through healthcare, education, and community empowerment.

World Health Day emphasises the power of science and global collaboration to protect health for people, animals, plants, and the planet.
World Health Day is an annual global health observance organised by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness about pressing health issues and mobilize action worldwide.

2026 Theme: “Together for Health. Stand with Science,” focuses on the importance of scientific collaboration and multilateral cooperation in addressing global health challenges. The campaign emphasizes the One Health approach, recognising the interconnected health of humans, animals, plants, and ecosystems. It highlights how scientific evidence can be translated into real-world action to prevent diseases, improve food safety, and strengthen health systems.

Northwood Children's Hospice is on the brink of a new In-Patient Hospice site development fully aligned with the objectives of World Health Day.

Together we will ensure that every child has a healthy tomorrow.

These facts highlight the genetic, medical, and social dimensions of Down syndrome, emphasizing both challenges and the potential for meaningful, independent lives.

At Northwood Children's Hospice our Edu-Care facility provides specialised educational and social early childhood development programs for Children with Special Needs promoting the importance of play and providing love, care and support to all our special children, their families and communities.
