Mr Fernando Angelo Nhone
HOD Student Affairs
The King’s School West Rand
I grew up in Muldersdrift and first came to Community Ministries, now CMRC, in 2009 for Holiday Club as a child. In 2010 I signed up to serve as one of the Holiday Club leaders. After that, Gina Rowe approached me to serve in the Children’s Ministry, and that’s where my journey with them truly began.
CDR Equipping was formally launched in 2015, but its influence in my life started long before then.
From 2010 to 2014 I served in the Children’s Ministry and in countless Holiday Clubs. Through those programs we reached over 5,000 children and trained more than 500 leaders.
I matriculated in 2014, and in 2015 I continued serving as a Children’s Ministry leader. In 2016 I joined _More Than A Teacher_ as a teaching intern, while still serving in ministry. I then joined the CDR staff as a Leadership and Community Coordinator, serving until 2021. During that time I had the opportunity to be trained through various leadership initiatives and to train multiple leaders across the West Rand.
CDR Equipping also supported me immensely with my studies and accommodation. When I experienced a break-in in 2020 where I was staying, CDR Equipping made sure I received the counseling and support I needed.
Today I am a Head of Department: Student Affairs in my workplace. I attribute much of who I am to the support I received from the Rowe family and through CDR Equipping. They walked with me not just in my education, but holistically, in becoming the person I continue to grow into today.
