HEADLINE: Is Your Tank Eating Your Profits?
⛽️💸 How to Keep More Cash by Friday!
@
Hey E-Hailing SA family! 👋
We all know the struggle. You work hard all week, dealing with traffic and tricky pax, but when you look at your earnings vs. what you spent at the pump, it feels like you’re just working to pay petrol stations. 😤
It’s time to change that. We aren't just here to drive; we are here to make a living!
Here is Part 1 of our guide on how to squeeze every last kilometer out of your tank and boost that end-of-the-week profit margin. 👇👇👇
1️⃣ The "Right Foot" Rule 🦶
The biggest fuel thief isn't the price at the pump; it's harsh driving.
Smooth Operator: Avoid jackrabbit starts (flooring it when the light turns green) and slamming on brakes. Imagine there is an open cup of hot coffee on your dashboard that you don't want to spill. Smooth driving can improve fuel economy by up to 20% in stop-and-go Joburg/Cape Town traffic!
Look Ahead: Anticipate traffic lights changing. If you see a red light ahead, lift off the accelerator early and coast.
2️⃣ Stop Chasing "Ghosts" 👻📍
How many kilometers do you drive without a passenger in the car? Those are "dead kilometers," and they are costing you money.
Park & Wait: Instead of cruising around aimlessly hoping for a ping, find a strategic, safe spot near a high-demand area (malls, business parks, busy nightlife spots) and turn your engine off while you wait.
Don't Chase Surges: Unless you are very close, driving 10km to get to a surge zone often means the surge is gone by the time you arrive, and you wasted fuel getting there.
3️⃣ The Silent Money Killer: Tyre Pressure 🚗💨
This is the easiest fix that so many drivers ignore!
Soft tyres create more drag on the road, meaning your engine has to work harder (and drink more fuel) to move the car.
Check your pressure once a week when the tyres are "cold" (before you've driven far). Keep them inflated to the manufacturer's recommended level (usually found on a sticker inside the driver's door frame). This is practically "free money."
4️⃣ Idling Gets You Nowhere ⏳
If you are waiting for a passenger who is taking "just 2 minutes" (we know it’s never 2 minutes 🙄), or waiting for a trip request:
Cut the engine. Idling for more than 60 seconds uses more fuel than restarting the car. Modern cars are designed to handle frequent restarts. Don't burn profits while standing still!
THE BOTTOM LINE:💰
Saving R100 a day on fuel by driving smarter means an extra R500 - R700 in YOUR pocket at the end of the week. That pays for groceries or a utility bill!
