At Middelburg Care Village, we are often reminded that God works through ordinary people who are willing to listen, serve, and act.
Recently, Andre Barnett and William Joubert shared with us how, during an outreach trip to Kosi Bay, they felt God stirring their hearts to be a blessing to communities. In response, they reached out to friends, shared the vision, and trusted God to reveal where and how He wanted them to serve.
What followed was a remarkable demonstration of generosity and community spirit. Friends, businesses, and individuals began offering their support, donations were gathered, and commitments were made to assist where there was need.
This journey led them to Middelburg Care Village.
On Saturday, 23 May, Andre Barnett, William Joubert, and Johan Botha visited the Care Village to deliver donations collected through the generosity of a number of individuals and businesses. More importantly, they spent time with our children and caregivers, sharing in a wonderful braai and fellowship together. It was a special day filled with laughter, connection, and the reminder that our children are supported by a caring and compassionate community.
The visit also provided an opportunity for a strategic discussion with members of the Care Village leadership team, including Christa Cloete, Andre Cloete, Colin Bothma, and Andre Brandmuller. Together, we discussed ways in which the wider community can partner with Middelburg Care Village to strengthen our impact, support our staff, and create greater opportunities for the children entrusted to our care.
We are incredibly grateful for the support received from individuals and businesses who answered the call to make a difference. People such as Deon Badenhorst, Tokkie Uys, Eduan Barnett, Dennis Henry, Wendy Crawford, Chris from United Meat Merchants, and many others played a role in making this initiative possible. Their generosity is a testimony to what can be achieved when a community comes together around a shared purpose.
What makes this especially encouraging is that this is only the beginning. Plans are already being developed for future visits that may include additional donations, staff development and team-building initiatives, and practical support aimed at helping our children prepare for successful and meaningful futures.
The photographs from the day tell a story of more than donations. They tell a story of people choosing to invest their time, resources, and hearts into the lives of others.
To every individual, business, donor, volunteer, caregiver, and friend who contributed in any wayโthank you. Your support reminds our children that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Together, we are proving that when a community unites around a common purpose, lives can be changed.
