To***co smoke exposure affects lungs at every stage of life — from prenatal development to adulthood.

🚭 Prenatal exposure, household smoking, and secondhand smoke all impair lung growth and raise the risk of asthma, infections, and COPD later in life.

Let’s protect every breath.

Our lungs are a lifelong investment — from the first breath to the golden years. This year, we join GAAPP under the theme “A Lifetime of Lung & Immune Health: For All.”

Early‑onset and persistent asthma can affect lung function well into adulthood. Let’s act early: protect children’s lungs, reduce pollution, support smoke‑free homes, and promote access to care.

💙 Every breath matters.

Itch Does Not Need to Disrupt Your Life

Chronic urticaria can disrupt daily life in ways others may not see. It does not have to.

Many people living with chronic urticaria struggle every day with itch, swelling, and unpredictable flare ups. These symptoms can sleep, work, relationships, and confidence. Many patients feel that their condition is not fully understood.

UDAY helps raise awareness of the real impact of urticaria.

Recognising the burden of the disease is the first step toward better care, support and management.

Today is World Lung Day!

This year, we join the global lung health community under the theme "A Lifetime of Lung & Immune Health: For All."

Our lungs are organs and also a lifelong investment. From the first breath of a newborn to the golden years, every stage of life presents an opportunity to protect and strengthen our respiratory health.

Evidence shows that early-life factors—prenatal nutrition, exposure to to***co smoke, childhood infections, and air pollution—can set the trajectory for lung function across a lifetime.

But here's the good news: we can act.

By taking action—addressing social determinants of health, supporting smoking cessation, reducing pollution, improving housing conditions, preventing infections, promoting adequate nutrition and early diagnoses—we can reduce the burden of chronic respiratory diseases for generations.

Join us as we advocate for clean air, equitable healthcare, and early intervention.

🌼 NATIONAL ASTHMA EDUCATION PROGRAMME - SPRING EDITION 🌼

As spring unfolds in South Africa, the rise in pollen and temperature can significantly impact those with asthma and hay fever. The South African Pollen Monitoring Network (SAPNET) reports that pollen seasons are starting earlier and lasting longer, exacerbating symptoms for many.

At NAEP, we are dedicated to equipping families and medical professionals with the knowledge needed to understand and manage asthma effectively.

Stay informed and protect your health this season.
