Pure Artistry!

Enjoy these eight magical creations, all inspired by the theme “Deep in the Forest”, which candidate judge Taniah Kuhn envisioned and brought to life before a captivated audience at the Mpumalanga Flora Union AGM in Witbank on 13 August.

We think Nattaniah is destined to pass her judging exams with distinction; don’t you agree?

Also, a huge thank-you to our in-house photographer and picture wizard, Belinda Janse van Rensburg, for capturing these beautiful designs so wonderfully!

A wonderful day of flowers, friendship, and shared passion!

The Mpumalanga Floral Union held its AGM in Witbank on 13 August. The invitation called for 'A Colourful Affair', and guests did not disappoint! Despite the icy cold day, everyone dressed up and gathered warmly for a time filled with camaraderie, appreciation, and floral art.

President Alma Retief Badenhorst welcomed everyone, including those who came from far. Panel reports highlighted our ongoing dedication to teaching, demonstrating, and judging; keeping our community thriving!
A heartfelt thank you goes to Alma for her leadership, and to every member who proudly carries the Union’s name forward.

What better way to end an AGM than with flowers? Our own member and candidate judge, Taniah Kuhn captivated the audience with an outstanding, creative demonstration as part of her practical work towards achieving the National Design Diploma.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a lovely light lunch hosted by the Witbank Flower Club, featuring five beautifully themed tablescapes.

In this post we're sharing photos of the meeting and Nattaniah in action, mesmerizing everyone present.

We look forward to another year of learning, creating, sharing and celebrating the wonderful world of floral art!

Thank you to our photographer, Belinda Janse van Rensburg, who captured the day so beautifully!

We’re so proud to share the incredible work of our designers at the Honey and Mead Festival, Bardolino Artists Retreat on 1 August. Every creation celebrated texture, light, and the golden spirit of honey.

The judges were looking for imaginative and original interpretations of the two classes:
'Sticky Situation', with its emphasis on line, texture and colour evoking honey;
and 'Honeyed Woodland', calling for a natural, rustic interpretation inspired by woodland materials and warm honey tones.

Entries were judged on interpretation, originality, design principles, creativity, technical ex*****on and overall impact.

The variety of ideas, thoughtful use of plant material and willingness to explore the themes were utterly delightful, don't you agree?

Congratulations to every member who entered and HUGE congratulations to our winners!
Taniah Kuhn, Ansie Cilliers, Belinda Janse van Rensburg, Magdarien Nel, Elize Van Rooyen, Doritha Bester, Dolla Miller Ferreira, Evelyn Van Tonder, and Tina Kühn. Well done, ladies! 🌟

Lastly, a massive shoutout to our member and photographer, Belinda, her son Nico and his lovely friend, Megan, for the hours of work capturing the event and designs so beautifully!

A golden day for Lenteblomme Klub at the Honey and Mead Festival at Bardolino Artists Retreat 🍯🐝

Our Queen Bee, Nattaniah, ruled the stage with her demonstration on quick and easy flowers for the home. Sunflower crown, scepter, and all the busking flair: playful, practical, and so much fun to watch!

Congratulations to every member who participated! We were all especially proud to see Ouma Tina take home an award!

Angelique and Eleonora judged the designs and presented the awards.

Members (and a few long-suffering husbands) came out to support, taste the honey and food offered by the artisan stalls, and enjoy the sunshine, food, and great company. A day full of flowers, honey, and heart.

Last but not least: Thank you to Jennifer and Walter for the invitation to be part of this annual event; much fun was had by all!

P.S. Dappled sunlight: A real struggle for our photographer, but half-sunlit smiles are still sunlit smiles and we’ll take them!
Huge thank you to Nico and Megan for doing most of the hard work on the day, and to Belinda for all the editing and behind-the-scenes magic.

Floral Art & Design SA - July Virtual Competition
Theme: The Eeriness of Winter

Winter whispers in silence, mystery and shadow... and our six courageous Lenteblommeklub members answered the challenge with 10 thought-provoking designs.

The judges were looking for designs that captured winter's mysterious, quiet and supernatural mood through the use of plant material, with an emphasis on minimalism, negative space, and a restrained palette of greys and whites, where less truly became more.

Congratulations to each designer for interpreting this demanding theme with imagination, sensitivity and creativity.

A special word of congratulations to Eleonora Williams for 1st place in the Advanced Class, Magdarien Nel for 2nd place in the Intermediate/Novice Class, and Evelyn Van Tonder for 3rd place in the Intermediate/Novice Class.
We are proud of every member who took part and represented Lenteblommeklub so beautifully!
