Unlocking Destinies is planned to be a non-profit company falling under the umbrella of the Abathenjwa Trust. In the short term it will operate as a non-profit organisation and fundraise under the covering of the Ikhethelo Children’s Village, previously called Makaphutu Children’s Village. Purpose: To equip the church and community to unlock destinies of orphaned and vulnerable children. To provid
e the best opportunity to every child specific to their needs and dreams. We believe that we are called to be family to the orphans. We are called to love with no strings attached. We believe each individual has something to offer. Each individual has a key which is able to unlock the destiny of another. We believe that there are strategic moments, or gateway events in all people’s lives, and it is our intention that we recognise these moments and intervene generously and intentionally to release vulnerable children into their God-given destinies. This organisation will focus on the following KEYS:
1. Investing in Education (pre-school, primary and high school –provide funding and work with other organisations and bursaries)
2. Investing in Futures (tertiary education and higher/ further education/ training– work with other organisations and bursaries)
3. Providing Opportunities and Experiences (time, work experience, dreams, sporting tours etc.)
4. Being Intentional about Family (experience family, workshop weekend, night out with a family, family day at Ikhethelo, life skill training)
Unlocking Destinies will work in connection with other NPCs and NPOs associated with the Abathenjwa Trust as well as Government, businesses and individuals. CORE VALUES:
1. Family – Family is the foundation of society. It is the picture of the kingdom. We represent the Father to the fatherless.
2. Love with no strings attached – love is an action, it is a choice, it is not always easy yet always has the best results.
3. Cheerful Generosity – giving in every manner possible with a cheerful heart. Money, time, opportunities and connections.
4. Connection – linking resources and opportunities and individuals – working with diversity in unity – together is better.
5. Mentorship – relationship is the best way to communicate life skills and impart wisdom. More is taught through relationship than through a lecture.
6. Adoption – is the ultimate goal – every child deserves a family – yet if this is not possible – every child needs to experience family.
7. Excellence – instilling pride and living with integrity.
