Taking a Stand Against Bullying & GBV

Today, we visited Phakane High School to create the Anti-Bullying Buddy Club – a powerful initiative aimed at creating a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for learners.

Through this club, we are not only addressing bullying but also raising awareness around Gender-Based Violence (GBV), encouraging learners to speak out, support one another, and be part of the solution.

A big thank you to the school, educators, and learners who welcomed us with open hearts. Together, we are planting seeds of kindness, respect, and accountability that will grow into a stronger, safer community.

Community Dialogue on GBVF in Dichoswaneng Village

On the 14th August 2025 we joined hands with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Thuthuzela Care Centre to engage the community of Dichoswaneng in a powerful dialogue on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).

This dialogue forms part of our ongoing efforts to activate the Karabelo GBVF Response Program, creating a safe platform for community members to share their concerns, ask questions, and strengthen our collective fight against abuse and violence.

We believe that ending GBVF starts with awareness, dialogue, and action. Together, we can build safer communities where survivors are supported, and justice is accessible.

Thanks to the community and leaders who participated and committed to being part of the change.

On the 30-31st The Fortunate Foundation For Community Development hosted a powerful and insightful workshop at The Department Of Arts,Sports and Culture, bringing together Traditional Leaders, Church Leaders, and other key stakeholders to openly engage on traditional and religious norms that contribute to the oppression and perpetuation of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).

These conversations are never easy, but they are necessary. By unpacking cultural and religious practices that may fuel gender inequality, we took bold steps toward transforming harmful beliefs into tools for healing and protection.

Together, we committed to: βœ… Challenging outdated practices that silence victims
βœ… Promoting gender justice within cultural and faith spaces
βœ… Strengthening collaboration between communities and faith structures
βœ… Taking collective action to prevent GBVF at its root

🧩 Change begins when leaders come together to listen, reflect, and act.

πŸ™ŒThank you to all the leaders who showed courage and compassion by participating. Our communities are stronger because of your voice and your commitment.

🟣 The Fortunate Foundation For Community Development: Addressing Statutory R**e & Teenage Pregnancy 🟣

On the 15th May 2025 we held a powerful and impactful round table dialogue bringing together traditional leaders, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the Department of Health, and various community-based organizations.

The discussion focused on statutory r**e and the alarming rise in teenage pregnancy β€” issues that continue to affect our young people, especially girls, in vulnerable communities.

Together, we explored: βœ… The role of traditional leadership in safeguarding youth
βœ… Legal responsibilities and justice for victims
βœ… Health sector support and prevention strategies
βœ… Community-based responses and education

We are committed to breaking the silence, protecting children, and creating a collective response that brings lasting change.
