ENAS Project Blessing Bags are great to keep on hand in your car, so if you are in a situation where you find someone in need, you have the bag right there to hand to them.

And Jesus said, “Go and do the same !!”

As the temperatures drop, many of our neighbors without shelter are facing the cold with little to keep them warm.

If you're out and about this week, please keep an eye out for anyone in need. A kind word, a warm drink, or one of our Blessing Bags can make a huge difference.

💡 What’s in a Blessing Bag?
Essential items like socks, gloves, snacks, hygiene products, and hand warmers—small things that bring big comfort.

Let’s be the warmth someone needs tonight.

When donating blankets to the homeless, consider the following:

Warmth: Choose blankets that are warm and made of materials that provide insulation, such as wool, fleece, or thermal fabrics.

Durability: Homeless individuals often use their blankets as a primary source of warmth and shelter, so choosing blankets that are durable and can withstand regular use and exposure to the elements is essential.

Size: Larger blankets can provide better warmth and coverage, especially if the individual is tall or has to share the blanket with someone else.

Portability: Choose lightweight and easy-to-carry blankets, as many homeless individuals have to carry their belongings with them.

Cleanliness: Donating blankets that are clean and in good condition is essential. Consider washing the blankets before donating them.

Waterproofing: Consider donating blankets that are waterproof or have a water-resistant coating, as homeless individuals often have to sleep outdoors and may be exposed to rain or moisture.

By choosing warm, durable, portable, clean, and possibly waterproof blankets, you can provide essential warmth and comfort to homeless individuals in need.

Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most to the people receiving them.

You can donate to a homeless shelter or, better yet, buy some inexpensive personal care products and make up small hygiene kits you can keep with you and give out to homeless people when you see them on the streets.

Remember to say “hello” to people you meet on the streets. They’ll be glad you did and you’ll feel more connected to the people you’re helping.

SOME SUGGESTIONS

Blessing Bags are useful both in warm and cold weather. In summer, include raingear, sunblock or frozen bottles of water. In winter, include gloves, hats or heat packs.

Fragranced items such as soap, hand lotion or deodorant can negatively affect the taste of food items if placed in the same bag. Pack these separately if you choose to give them.

Avoid items such as mouthwash or hand sanitizer that contain alcohol.

WHEN YOU GIVE A BLESSING BAG

Don’t be in a hurry. It’s okay to slip it out your window to someone on a street corner or freeway ramp. But consider taking time to park the car and hand-deliver it.

Smile. This person probably gets ignored by hundreds of people every day.

Make eye contact. It shows that the person matters.

Don’t give money. It’s your decision, of course, but we generally discourage giving cash. Instead, ask what their immediate need is and consider how you can help. Buy them a meal?

Be available to have a conversation. Some people won’t want to talk, so be sensitive. Others will be delighted to tell you their story.

Pray. Before you go, while you go, for the people you encounter. Ask the person if they would like you to pray for them right there.

Be wise. It is smart to go out as a group when handing out Blessing Bags.

Inspire others. Share your story of handing out Blessing Bags with us. Email us at [email protected].

It is our dream that there will be ONE bag circulating at all time, throughout South Africa.

It only takes ONE person to say YES … and ONE person to pass the bag along … and ONE person to give … and ONE person to pray … and ONE person to bless.

God did not create us to be alone. He created us to be part of a community. Together as a community we can make a great impact.

We all need inspiration. Nothing inspires like being part of something good.

YOU will be inspired to keep on giving, when you give …

ĖNAS is the Greek word for ONE.

Our mission is to ENABLE and INSPIRE YOU to make a difference in ONE life by adding ONE gift.

Our society became immune to giving, because the need is far greater than what we are able to give.

With this project we would like to remind you that you can make a difference by adding just ONE item, no matter how big or small.

There is a blessing in giving and it is not receiving back 10 fold. The blessing of giving is a spiritual one. It feels good to give. No matter how big or small the gift, the impact of giving in your own life is priceless.

“For it is in giving that we receive.” ―St. Francis of Assisi

Blessing Bags are great to keep on hand in your car, so if you are in a situation where you find someone in need, you have the bag right there to hand to them.

To experience homelessness isn’t just to lack a roof over your head. Unsheltered individuals live without the means to acquire the basic human comforts of warmth, health, safety, and cleanliness. Whether you’re gathering donations for a local shelter or looking to help a person on your block, consider some of the less-obvious things that many homeless report as essential needs.
