RE: IODIEN JANUARY INAUGURAL GOLFDAY/MINI REUNION

Good evening members

A come-together (meet and eat) is planned for Saturday, 16th August 2025 on the eve of the Golf Day tournament.

This has been planned in conjunction with the Golf Day. Due to the time required for the previous task, we were only able to send out the message this evening. We apologise for that.

We hope to foster a stronger bond amongst us to eventually achieve our set goals for this initiative.

Bring anything to eat, drink and share. A braai stand will be available; just bring your wood, firelighters and important: your meat/fish choice plus garnishing.

We will be having short introductory speeches by two of the organisers plus two guests.
They will focus on:

• The purpose of the Trust.
• The Golf Day Fundraiser
• Future connections
Speakers will be announced later.

What an honor it is to have our INAUGURAL GOLF DAY on Sunday 17 August named after the esteemed Mr. Iodien January! … fondly known as Oom Jan, Meester, Mr. IO…
We are deeply grateful for his endorsement of the Knysna Secondary School Educational Trust. As a principal to many of us, and as former learners and teachers, we can only be thankful for the significant role he played in laying the foundation for so many individuals and the broader community. His legacy continues to inspire and motivate us.

Paying It Forward: Reintroducing the KSSED TRUST!

As former students of Knysna Secondary School from the late 70s ,80s, 90’s and beyond …we're passionate about giving back to our community. We know firsthand the challenges of poverty and financial constraints that can stand in the way of achieving our dreams.

That's why we established the KSSED TRUST in 2019 - a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) dedicated to supporting learners from Knysna Secondary School and surrounding primary schools who face financial barriers to furthering their education.

Our Mission:

We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their financial situation. Our trust aims to provide assistance to talented and deserving students, empowering them to reach their full potential and make a positive impact in their communities.

Our Story:

We know what it takes to overcome adversity and achieve success. Many of us have experienced poverty and struggled to access education, but with the support of our community, we were able to pursue our dreams and become professionals in various fields. Now, we want to pay it forward and help the next generation of leaders.

Our Progress:

We're proud to announce that our trust has been successfully registered as a Public Benefit Organization (PBO), exempting us from income tax. We've also received generous donations from ex-learners and individuals, bringing our net worth to approximately R 100,000.
