Revive Knysna

Revive Knysna A Community group of volunteers passionate about reviving and beautifying Knysna, keeping it looking clean, green, safe and beautiful 😍

Revive Knysna has left no stone unturned in proving that their passion and determination to make Knysna beautiful again is what motivates this team of local volunteer residents. The transformation of Waterfront Drive in a matter of weeks has kicked off the team’s current focus of uplifting the CBD but they have all kinds of exciting plans in the pipeline.

“Beautifying Knysna one community project

at a time” is their motto. Relying solely on community support, the Knysna community has responded with generous donations of plants, top soil, designs, labour and funding – even the Knysna Fire Dept was seen watering the freshly laid beds with the Knysna Parks Dept carting away loads of rubbish after the clean-up. The initial affiliation to the Greater Knysna Business Chamber legitimised the non-profit organisation and offered local businesses an opportunity to get involved. This dedicated group believes that it is the small projects that will make all the difference in positively impacting the town and its people - creating a mind-shift of ‘it starts with me’. Leading by example, they want to inspire and motivate the Knysna community to hop on board with their movement. Encouraging every resident and business to begin by cleaning up their own verge and beautifying it where possible will have a massive impact on the town of Knysna. These small transformations should make Knysna tourist/visitor ready when international travel re-opens. Along with the project Revive Knysna is hoping to make use of the talents of its many artists in our community with plans to paint magnificent murals in key places around Knysna. Upgrades to popular walking/cycling paths are on the cards as are various clean-up challenges for certain areas. Revive Knysna is providing a platform to bring these, plus many more projects to life with the help of the Municipality, the Community and various NPO stakeholders. By inspiring and motivating the community into efficient action, one project at a time, we can all become – who knows, we may even get to win “Town of the year” again! A huge thank you to Blue waters construction for cleaning the mess (builders rubble and squatter’s toilet) in the open park area in hedges street opposite Office Supplies.

Thank you Blue waters for always helping Revive Knysna and our community in your tireless efforts to revive, maintain and uplift our town by creating clean green safer spaces for the Greater Knysna community and our tourists and visitors to enjoy!

After the two recent heavy storms, Revive Knysna volunteers have been hard at work restoring and re-staking our Yellowwood trees along Waterfront Drive, as well as the Wild Plum trees on the brick pathway.

A big thank you to Claudia, together with her husband Tony Cook and members of our Revive team, for putting in the hours to help secure and protect these precious trees for the future of our town.

A huge thank you once again to Zac from Zac Latte for generously providing new extra-long stakes to support these trees, many of which have been severely compromised due to unauthorised pruning. Your continued support makes such a difference.

And finally, a special shout out to Gail and Pascal for repairing and protecting our trees on George Rex Drive from ongoing garden refuse dumping and damage caused by wandering cows.

It truly takes a community to keep Knysna clean, green and thriving

After a reckless spate of graffiti vandalism across Knysna CBD, two young men came forward and admitted responsibility for defacing public and private property.

What followed was genuine remorse — not just words, but Action.

Over the past few weeks, they returned to every area they had sprayed, working to clean and restore the damage caused, while also assisting in cleaning additional graffiti-affected spaces.

Knysna has ZERO tolerance for vandalism and damage to public or private property. But when genuine accountability, effort, and remorse are shown, there is also room for second chances.

Their willingness to make amends for a serious error in judgement has not gone unnoticed - as shown here in some of these Before and After photos

Let's keep Knysna clean and beautiful together 👌

Well done to all the Active citizens of Revive Hunters North 👏

From Simon Harris:
Good morning everyone 🌞
What a difference a few active citizens can make in a single hour! 🌟 What looked unloved just yesterday is now a clean, welcoming intersection we can all be proud of 💫.
While we were there, we also repaired some minor damage to our welcome sign and gave the trim a fresh lick of paint.
A massive thank you to those who rolled up their sleeves to help, and to everyone quietly doing their bit to uplift our area. Your efforts make a massive difference.
Imagine the transformation we could achieve if we all viewed our surrounding areas through the lens of custodianship.
Our suburbs belong to us, and taking collective pride in them changes everything 🙌🏻
