April is Autism Awareness Month.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts with others, and experiences the world. It’s called a spectrum because individuals can have a wide range of strengths, abilities, and challenges.

People with autism may:
Communicate differently (verbally or non-verbally)
Prefer routines and structure
Have unique ways of learning, thinking, and expressing themselves
Be sensitive to sounds, lights, textures, or environments
Autism is not an illness. it’s a different way of thinking and being. With understanding, acceptance, and the right support, individuals on the spectrum can thrive in environments that cater to their needs.

Awareness leads to acceptance, and acceptance creates inclusion.

Teachers are often the first to notice signs of autism in a child. Their awareness, patience, and understanding can lead to early support and life changing intervention. When teachers see a child, the child has a better chance to thrive💙

Back-to-school drive brings smiles to learners in Klerksdorp.

On 28 January 2026, the Ponatshego Ya Baswa Foundation supported 120 learners at Nozizwe Primary School (Khuma) and Selang Thuto Primary School (Kanana) with school shoes and toiletry hampers.
This initiative aims to restore dignity, improve hygiene, and boost learners’ confidence as they begin the school year.
