The Wilmed Park Oncology unit, is the only cancer treatment facility in the Northwest Province, and Northern Free Sate. All patients from this large district are referred to the Oncology Unit is Klerksdorp for their Chemo and Radiation treatment. Because radiation is admini

stered over a period of around 6 weeks, it is very costly, and patients are forced to remain in Klerksdorp for the duration of their treatment. A few are able to find accommodation with friends of the Oncology unit, but many are forced to make temporary homes in expensive guest houses. Staff of the Oncology have been organizing fundraising events since, to raise funds that will carry the cost of running the Interim Home for these patients. We do charge a rate of R50 pp/night, and we still have patients who cannot even afford that. Patients are also transported to and from the treating facility. We are happy to say that the community has been great in supporting our fundraising events thus far! Thank you! When patients stay at the Coverdale Interim Home, their loved ones can rest assured that they are well looked after, and will receive exactly what they need. When the home is not 100% occupied by oncology patients, we do make the home available for family and friends of patients who needs accommodation at ‘n fee of R100pp, to help with the expenses.
