***COMMUNITY SERVICE***

We were honoured to participate at the Hutshe Segolodi Community Bookclub's fun day activity hosted by -Mtabani AfrikanQueen Arts Production, a local community arts centre this past weekend.

We assisted with face painting, played games😅and offered skills bases on First Aid and Safety.

We would like to thank the organisers and the team of facilitators for the invite and hoping to further spread the spirit of scouting throughout our neighbourhood!😃

***BP AWARD RECIPIENT***

WARMEST CONGRATULATIONS TO LESEGO RAMOTHWALA ON EARNING HIS BP AWARD🎊🥳..

Recently, we had the privilege of celebrating Lesego Ramothwala Jr.'s journey to achieving this milestone, marking the crew's first BP Award since its establishment and the second in the NC Region.

The BP Award represents the pinnacle of scouting achievement for a Rover in South Africa, fostering holistic development - physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual - in line with scouting's aim to nurture well-rounded individuals, to reaching their full potential. This esteemed award challenges participants and stands as a testament to one's endurance and commitment to their scouting career.

Lesego co-founded 1st Isago Rover Crew in 2017 along with 3 other rovers including the region's first BP award recipient, Thozamile Kula(whom subsequently established another crew in 2018), - serving in various capacities in the unit, including Crew Scribe, Vice-Crew Chair, and Chairperson. His leadership and mentorship have been instrumental in the crew's growth and success, including achieving a Silver, several Gold Star Awards and contributing to the movement by assisting in running district and regional events during the years.
Lesego has also served on adult scouting roles including PS, APS, Regional Young Leaders' Representative and has been a driving force in his community as an arts practitioner and facilitator at a local community arts centre assisting in tutoring, life skills, reading and creative writing at the Hutshe Segolodi Community Bookclub in Galeshewe township, Kimberley.

After eight years of dedication to 1st Isago Rover Crew, Lesego concludes this chapter with a sense of joy and fulfillment, ready to continue serving his community and the movement. The BP Award process empowers individuals to set high standards, plan meticulously, and strive for excellence, embodying the Rover Motto of 'Service'.

Lesego's achievements include:
• Several awards earned as a youth, such as the LW, Explorer Badge, Cub Instructor award, and the Bushman's Thong.
• Eight Rover awards, culminating to the Rover Cord and numerous other challenge awards including The President's Award for Youth Empowerment(Gold), PLTU staff, Dialogue For Peace.
• Currently serving as RTC: Cub Programme in the Northern Cape Region.

**SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY**

This past Saturday, the crew paid a visit to the Kimberley SPCA / DBV for Kagisho's squireship project.
The experience was both informative and exhilarating, as we were afforded the opportunity to volunteer for several hours at the dog and cat section of the institution. It was heartening to have contributed to the care of the animals, and we gained valuable insight into the love and affection they require. We extend our sincere gratitude to the administration and team of inspectors and caregivers for their guidance and enlightenment on the role we can play in promoting animal welfare.

Kagisho was later invested as a rover of our crew, and we wish her all the best in her journey ahead.

●°Crew Annual General Meeting 2025°●

This year marked our eighth year since establishment, and we utilized this opportunity to review our operational standards, including achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement to enhance our overall rovering experience.

We were honored by the presence of our Regional Team Coordinator: Rover Programme and our newly appointed Scout Group Leader, who expressed gratitude for our service to the group's welfare and rovering in our region, highlighting the leadership maturity demonstrated by our crew members and its contribution to a successful year of adventure. The event featured fun activities and games, culminating in an overnight social evening following the AGM. We recognized four members for completing their awards, acknowledged the crew for achieving national challenge requirements, and welcomed our newly elected crew council for 2026.
