Good day,
We at Chocolate’s Angels Animal Rescue are facing the most difficult season we have experienced in our six years of rescue work. 😔
We have no choice but to move. That means breaking down what we have built, relocating, and putting up new camps—all within 60 days. It is physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming to dismantle six years of work, much of it already built, broken, and rebuilt with our own hands.
Yet this move also carries the dream we have always held: larger camps, more running space for the animals, and a setup that is more volunteer-friendly. We want to be clear—we do not intend to take in more animals simply because the land is bigger. The goal is better care, not higher numbers.
Animal rescue is not easy. Not at all. When we started six years ago, we never imagined this would become a full-time operation helping thousands of animals in need. We are strong in rehoming and adoptions, which is why we have the turnover we do and why we are able to help new animals. We try to keep our numbers under 100 dogs and 50 cats—but as anyone in rescue knows, that is not always possible.
The hardest part of rescue is asking for help.
Donations have steadily declined. At present, the only guaranteed income we receive is on the 1st of the month—about R1,100 in total. Beyond that, every day is uncertain. We place our lives, and the lives of the animals in our care, in God’s hands and take each day as it comes.
Closing down is not an option.
Putting animals to sleep is not an option.
What is an option is asking—humbly—for help.
If you are able to support us in any way, or if you can share this message with friends, family, groups, or South Africans living abroad, it would mean more than words can say. Every share helps. Every bit of support matters. ❤️
Thank you for standing with us and for helping us keep our doors open so we can continue making a difference.
With gratitude,
Jason
