Yesterday we had an informal meeting over tea and scones at Sew Africa between the two Jennifers from Rotary Morningside, and our own Karabo and Lena.

We were brainstorming on how to pool our resources, skills and networks into creating sustainable upliftment and job creation.

I am deeply humbled and grateful to be recognised as a recipient of the Olympus International Awards South Africa 2026 for my contribution to Community Development.

This recognition is not just about me; it represents the communities I serve, the young people we mentor, the families we support, and every stakeholder, partner, volunteer, and supporter who has walked this journey with me.

Community development has always been more than work. It is a calling. It is about restoring dignity, creating opportunities, empowering the vulnerable, and building hope where it is needed most.

Thank you to the organisers of OIASA2026 for this honour. I receive this award with gratitude, humility, and renewed commitment to continue serving, uplifting, and contributing positively to South Africa and beyond.
