🌱🧱 Celebrating 40 Years of Service – One Ecobrick at a Time! 🧱🌱

To mark the 40th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Morningside, Rotarians, friends, and community members came together to create 40 ecobricks – a meaningful symbol of 40 years of service above self.

Using plastic waste collected from the community, we transformed discarded packaging into valuable building resources, helping to reduce environmental pollution while promoting sustainable living.

This hands-on project was more than just making ecobricks; it was about working together, educating future generations, and demonstrating Rotary’s commitment to protecting our environment.

Youth Day is a time to remember the bravery of the young people who stood up for their rights in 1976 and helped shape the South Africa we know today.

Their courage opened doors for future generations, and their story continues to inspire young people to speak up, work hard, and make a difference in their schools, communities, and beyond.

At 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐊𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧, we believe in supporting young people as they grow into leaders, changemakers, and active members of their communities. Through service, mentorship, and opportunity, we are proud to play a small part in that journey.

Today, we celebrate the energy, talent, and potential of South Africa's youth. Your ideas matter, your voice matters, and your future matters.

From inspiring opening ceremonies and thought-provoking breakout sessions to new friendships, cultural experiences, and unforgettable moments, the Rotary International Convention in Taipei has been a remarkable journey for our District 9400 delegation.

Forty Rotarians from across District 9400 joined more than 37,000 Rotarians from around the world to learn, collaborate, share ideas, and celebrate the power of Rotary’s global network.

This video captures just a glimpse of the experiences, connections, sights, sounds, and flavours that made this Convention so special. More importantly, it reflects the friendships formed, the inspiration gained, and the renewed commitment to Service Above Self that each delegate brings home.

From the first Rotary Convention held in Chicago more than a century ago to today’s global gathering in Taipei, Rotary continues to unite people of action who are making a difference in their communities and around the world.

🌟 Celebrating a Remarkable Humanitarian – Glen Ross 🌟

Ten years ago, Glen Ross joined Rotary after moving to a town where he knew no one. At the age of 70, he sought friendship, fellowship, and a sense of community. What Rotary gained in return was an exceptional leader, servant, and champion of humanity.

A successful businessman in the motor industry, Glen has never believed in slowing down. His energy, passion, and commitment to people continue to inspire everyone around him. A true people’s person, Glen understands that lasting impact is built through meaningful relationships and genuine connections.

Over the past decade, Glen has served as Club President not once, but twice, leading with humility, dedication, and vision. Now, for the second time, he has been appointed as an Assistant Governor—a testament to the trust and respect he has earned throughout Rotary.

Glen, thank you for your unwavering service to Rotary, your commitment to making a difference, and your belief in the power of people working together for good.

We celebrate you, your leadership, and the countless lives you have touched along the way. Here’s to many more years of service above self!

More than a century ago, Rotarians gathered in Chicago for the very first Rotary Convention, united by a shared vision of service, friendship, and positive change.

Today, that vision is stronger than ever.

We are proud that 40 Rotarians from Rotary District 9400 are attending the Rotary International Convention in Taipei, joining more than 38,000 Rotarians from around the world.

This incredible gathering is a celebration of learning, collaboration, fellowship, and friendship. It is an opportunity to share ideas, build lasting connections, and strengthen the world’s most powerful network of business and humanitarian leaders.

Together, we continue to expand our impact, inspire innovation, and create hope in communities across the globe.

More than a century ago, Rotary leaders gathered for the first time in 1910 with a simple but powerful idea: that community, connection, and service could change the world.

Today, that same spirit carries forward into the upcoming Rotary International Convention. What started in Chicago as a small group committed to “service above self” has grown into a global movement, yet it’s still rooted in the same human moments: conversations, collaboration, and showing up for something bigger than ourselves.
