💙💛 DG VISIT | ROTARY CLUB OF BEDFORDVIEW – WHEN SERVICE EXTENDS BEYOND ONE CLUB! 🌍

One of the greatest strengths of Rotary is what we can achieve when we work together, share resources and multiply our impact!

During my official District Governor visit to the Rotary Club of Bedfordview, I was reminded that some of our most valuable Rotary projects are those that empower not only communities, but fellow Rotary clubs to do even more good.

📚🛏️ THE ROTARY HUMANITARIAN CENTRE – SHARING RESOURCES, MULTIPLYING IMPACT

One of the club's remarkable contributions is the Rotary Humanitarian Centre, where books and linen are made available to Rotary clubs for use in their community service projects.
What makes this initiative so special is that its impact extends far beyond Bedfordview. By making these resources accessible to other clubs, Bedfordview is helping fellow Rotarians reach more people, support more communities and make a greater difference.

This is Rotary collaboration at its best – one club creating opportunities for many others to serve!

❤️ LAMBANO – CREATING DEEP AND LASTING IMPACT

Another project that deserves special recognition is the club's involvement with Lambano, a meaningful initiative that reflects the importance of compassionate care and sustained community support.

Projects such as Lambano remind us that Rotary's impact is not always measured by the number of projects we undertake, but by the depth of the difference we make in people's lives.

🤝 BUILDING ON STRONG FOUNDATIONS

The Rotary Club of Bedfordview also has a proud record of successful fundraising, meaningful partnerships and collaborative service.
What particularly encouraged me during my visit was the club's willingness to reflect, embrace fresh ideas and explore opportunities to strengthen its future.

Rotary clubs do not need to do everything themselves. Sometimes our greatest contribution is to create the resources, partnerships and opportunities that enable others to succeed.

👏 My sincere appreciation to President Alan and the members of the Rotary Club of Bedfordview for your warm hospitality, your commitment to service and the valuable contribution you continue to make to our District.

Thank you for reminding us that when Rotary clubs support one another, our collective impact becomes so much greater.

🌅💙💛 DG VISIT | ROTARY CLUB OF JOHANNESBURG NEW DAWN – RESILIENCE, LEADERSHIP & LASTING IMPACT

Sometimes a club's greatest strength is not measured by the challenges it avoids, but by how it rises above them.

My official District Governor visit to the Rotary Club of Johannesburg New Dawn was particularly special. Having known many of the members for years, it felt a little like coming home! 💙

🌟 Leadership that inspires

It has been wonderful witnessing President Judy grow in confidence and truly embrace her leadership role, supported by experienced Rotarians who understand the importance of mentoring and empowering the next generation of leaders.
New Dawn has faced its share of challenges, but what impressed me most was the resilience of its members. They have regrouped, remained committed to their purpose and continued serving their communities.

🚻 Making a difference in Soweto

A highlight of my visit was accompanying President Judy and Helene to Soweto to see firsthand the club's toilet projects and meet the communities benefiting from their work.

It was an emotional and heartwarming experience. I don't think I have ever received so many hugs in one morning! ❤️

Those moments reminded me that behind every Rotary project, every statistic and every contribution are real people whose dignity and lives are being transformed.

🌱 The future of Rotary is in good hands!
was equally inspired by the newly established Interact Club at Parktown High School for Girls. These enthusiastic young leaders have already achieved so much in a short time and have exciting plans for the future.

Their energy, commitment and passion for service are a wonderful reminder of why investing in our youth matters.

🤝 A New Dawn, a renewed purpose

Thank you, President Judy and every member of Johannesburg New Dawn, for your incredible hospitality, friendship and commitment to service.

I left feeling inspired and confident that this club has all the ingredients to create deep and lasting impact.

True Rotary leadership is about empowering others, building resilience and never losing sight of the people we serve.

🌍 Lead with Peace. Create Lasting Impact.

💙💛 DG VISIT | ROTARY CLUB OF JOHANNESBURG EAST – EMPOWERING GIRLS, TRANSFORMING FUTURES! 🌟

True impact is not simply about meeting immediate needs. It is about creating opportunities that can change lives for generations.

My official District Governor visit to the Rotary Club of Johannesburg East was a wonderful reminder of the power of meaningful partnerships and the difference Rotarians can make when they look beyond traditional service projects.

🏡 A HOME OF HOPE – HOUSE GROUP FOR GIRLS

One of the highlights of my visit was spending time at the House Group for Girls, a caring, well-maintained home providing a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable girls.

What particularly inspired me was the opportunity for Rotary to take this partnership even further.

Through skills development, knowledge transfer, mentorship, and personal support, we have the potential to move beyond providing for immediate needs towards empowering these young women with the confidence, independence and opportunities to build brighter futures.

This is what creating deep and lasting impact is all about! 💙

🤝 STRONGER PARTNERSHIPS, STRONGER CLUBS

I was equally encouraged by the club's willingness to explore fresh ideas around membership growth and engagement.

A vibrant Rotary club is one where members find purpose, meaningful service, friendship and opportunities to contribute their unique skills.

The enthusiasm to welcome new members and explore new possibilities is an encouraging step towards building an even stronger Johannesburg East.

🌟 A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

To President Lloyd and the members of the Rotary Club of Johannesburg East, thank you for the wonderful hospitality extended to John and me, and for the thought and care that went into making our visit so special.
Because when we empower a young woman, we don't just change one life – we help shape a brighter future. 🌍

💙💛 Lead with Peace. Create Lasting Impact.

🌍 Rotarians Making a Difference Beyond Our District

Rotary’s strength lies in its global network of people committed to service, fellowship and building bridges across borders.

We acknowledge PDG Annemarie Mostert, a member of District 9400, for her continued involvement in international Rotary initiatives through her leadership of the Rotary Intercountry Committees (ICC) Executive Council.

Intercountry Committees provide opportunities for Rotarians across nations to strengthen relationships, promote international understanding and advance peace through cooperation.

We encourage our clubs and members to explore how these international connections can create meaningful opportunities for collaboration and service.

🎉 Happy Birthday to our District Governor Ann, Sylvia Knoop! 🎂💙💛

Today we celebrate a very special member of our District 9400 Rotary family — Sylvia Knoop, who has had the remarkable distinction of serving as District Governor Ann twice: first during the 2009–2010 Rotary year, and now again in 2026–2027.

Sylvia is an active Rotary Ann as well as an Honorary Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora. She continues to serve with warmth, enthusiasm and a genuine love for the Rotary family. The Rotary Anns of Benoni Aurora meet once a month on a Wednesday morning, continuing the wonderful fellowship and service that Rotary Anns bring to our communities.

Sylvia, thank you for walking this Rotary journey alongside our District Governor this year and for the friendship, encouragement and support you so generously give. Your many years of service are testament to a life lived with kindness and a heart for others. 🕊️

🌍 WORLD POLIO DAY 2026 | TOGETHER, WE END POLIO 💜

For decades, Rotary has made a promise to the children of the world: we will not stop until polio is gone.

And we are closer than ever.

As we approach World Polio Day on 24 October, Rotary District 9400 joins Rotarians across the globe in raising awareness, taking action and reminding our communities that the fight is not over until every child, everywhere, is safe from polio.

Every vaccination matters.
Every contribution matters.
Every conversation matters.
And every Rotarian has a role to play.

Across Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique and South Africa, let us use World Polio Day to tell Rotary’s incredible story — while continuing the work needed to finish it.

🎥 Watch. Share. Start a conversation.

Together, we have helped change the course of history.

Together, we can END POLIO NOW.

❤️ Lead with Peace. Create Lasting Impact.
