Statement by Rise Women & Girls Alliance on GBVF
Rise Women & Girls Alliance strongly condemns all forms of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF). We stand in solidarity with survivors and demand justice for seven-year-old Cwecwe, whose case highlights the systemic failures that allow violence against women and children to persist.
The public outcry, protests, and petitions calling for accountability reflect a society that refuses to stay silent. We commend the courage of survivors and echo the call for urgent action to address the root causes of GBVF.
While support services like Thuthuzela Care Centres are vital, real change requires law enforcement, the judiciary, educational institutions, and communities to work together. We urge all stakeholders to step up in preventing violence, protecting survivors, and prosecuting perpetrators.
Rise Women & Girls Alliance remains committed to advocating for a society free from GBVF. We will not stop until justice, safety, and dignity are secured for all women and girls.
