Hi Everyone
What an eventful second Musos luncheon we held last Wednesday. It was an extremely enjoyable and entertaining afternoon of musical talent. It never ceases to amaze me how many ‘unknown’ musicians we have in our midst.
Great to have Tommy Gloss back with his energetic upbeat nostalgia. Thanks to Tommy too for the introduction of Jennica Marais and Anrique Crow who shared their unique talent covering a few standards. First timer at Musos, JJ Stephens provided his crooning rendition of a romantic genre. Back by popular demand, Nic the Tonic added his professional country feel to the afternoon program. True professional Jacques le Guesse was back for a second time and stalwart comic, Mark Banks was I believe at his best - having the audience in stitches for nearly half an hour. And to end it all, we enjoyed listening to Musos classic Clive Bruce, and then the band PVT LTD's lead singer and guitarist Gavin Ho**er, rounded off one of the most exciting shows we have had in a while. All performances were done ‘free of charge’ and in aid of the Musicians Benevolent Fund.
A big thank you to our sound experts Heather and Lindsay Liebenberg with John Lindermann. Also, gratitude for door duty managed by our treasurer Gavin Standing and assisted by Andrew Beeker.
Please pencil in the date of our next Musos lunch planned for 2 September. In the meantime, we will keep you up to date with relevant MBF news which you can also access on our page ‘Musos Inc’.
If you would like to perform at our next or future lunches, please drop us a note.
A reminder for those non-members (many of whom are musicians and regular visitors to our Musos Luncheons) to please register as members of the Musos Benevolent Fund (application form attached). Our NPO is set up for the benefit of registered musicians. May we also remind all members to please pay your annual subscription (R70) which became due on 1 March 2026.
Until next time stay healthy and safe.
Kind regards
Ian Flint
