Today is Thank Your Mentor Day (January 21) – and we're celebrating the incredible mentors who show up for our teens every week! 💙
Bernard, one of our Net Buddy mentees wrote this beautiful thank you to his Video Mentor:
“I've been thinking about how to actually thank you in a way that matches what you've done for me, and honestly… words feel small. But I'll try my best because you really deserve to hear this.
Over these past few years, every single VC, every chat, every lesson you dropped it all added up and made a massive impact on my life. You didn't just guide me academically; you guided me as a person. You taught me to think differently, to challenge myself, and to look at life with a mindset that pushes me to grow instead of giving up.
You were there on the days when I felt lost, overwhelmed, or doubting myself. You didn't make me feel stupid or small instead, you helped me understand things step by step, and you motivated me in a way that felt real. You always showed patience, even when I was struggling to focus or when life was doing too much. And you kept showing up… consistently. That alone meant a lot to me.
Not everyone gets a mentor who actually listens, who actually cares, who actually wants to see you win. But I did. And I don't take that for granted.
The way you shared your time, your experience, your lessons, and your encouragement that's something I'll carry with me long after this chapter of my life. You helped me see my potential during moments when I couldn't see it myself. You pushed me to study harder, think deeper, and believe that I can do more than I thought. You didn't just help me with school; you helped shape my work ethic, my mindset, and my confidence. You planted seeds that will keep growing in the years ahead.
So, truly… thank you. Not just for the big things, but for the small moments too the jokes, the advice, the calm reminders, the tough love, and the steady presence. Thank you for never giving up on me, even on the days I wasn't giving my best.
