Call for Papers | Feminism & Psychology Special Issue: I am pleased to share this call for papers for a special issue of Feminism & Psychology on Intersectional Violences: Feminist Psychological Perspectives. This special issue seeks to advance contemporary feminist psychological scholarship on violence, with particular attention to intersectionality, absences, invisibilities, and the complex power dynamics that shape experiences and understandings of violence. Contributions from scholars at all career stages are encouraged, including theoretical, empirical, methodological, and practice-focused work. Join the PsySSA Decolonising Psychology Division on Monday, 21 September 2026, from 18:00–20:00, for a conversation with Associate Professor Sipho Dlamini, author of Beyond the Pretty White Affair: Training Africa/n-centring Psychologists for the Future.

In this CPD accredited webinar, we will engage with the central arguments of Dlamini’s book, which critically examines the historical and continuing dominance of Euro-American epistemologies and whiteness within the training and profession of psychology in South Africa.

The conversation will consider how the profession of psychology ought to move towards a discipline that trains practitioners who are Africa/n-centring psychologists.

What becomes possible when psychology begins from Africa and other Majority World contexts?

Psychology Otherwise: The Decolonial Option, by the Readsurama Decolonial Collective, challenges dominant traditions in psychology and asks us to reconsider how psychological knowledge is produced, whose experiences are centred, and whose knowledge counts.

Advancing a decolonial Africa(n)-centring approach, the book positions African and other Majority World contexts as vital sites for generating psychological knowledge and theory, rather than simply settings in which theories developed elsewhere are applied.

A timely contribution to conversations on decoloniality, epistemic justice and the transformation of psychology.

PsySSA is proud to celebrate the publication of Decolonial African-Centered Community Psychologies: Redressing Historical Harms, an important contribution to African-centred psychological scholarship.

We extend our congratulations to the editors, Prof Peace Kiguwa and Dr Jude Clark, together with Prof Tholene Sodi, Dr Sipho Dlamini, Mr Daniel den Hollander, and all the contributors whose scholarship has brought this important volume to life.

It is especially meaningful to see conversations initiated through PsySSA webinars and Congress panel discussions develop into a publication with international reach. This volume reflects the value of dialogue, collaboration, and scholarship, and the impact these can have in advancing psychological knowledge and African-centred perspectives.
