Progressive Business Forum Business group Progressive Business Forum (PBF) formed in 2006 to create ongoing dialogue The PBF is the locus of the social compact with Business.

The PBF is a programme of the ANC, mandated to promote and enhance liaison between Government, the ANC and Business. It functions under the auspices of the Office of the ANC Treasurer General. In the words of President Ramaphosa in his State of the Nation Address on 13 February 2020: “Let us frankly admit that the government cannot solve our economic challenges alone”. The PBF is gearing to be the facilitator of best practice communication and to ensure that the voice of business is heard and understood at the highest levels. The compact between Government and Business is a powerful and significant one. Business, with its unparalleled ability to generate jobs, opportunities and income, partnering and in dialogue with the solid and sound economic policies of Government, present an opportunity for PBF subscribers to engage the economy on an upward path of inclusive growth.

Our heritage carries the stories of those who came before us.
It carries their courage, sacrifices, creativity and resilience, and reminds us of the responsibility we have to preserve these treasures for generations to come. Let us celebrate the many identities that form the South African story while recognising the values and experiences that connect us.

May this Heritage Day inspire us to teach our children where they come from, respect one another’s traditions and build a society in which every South African can take pride in their heritage. Our heritage is not only what we inherit; it is also what we choose to protect, strengthen and pass forward. I wish all South Africans a meaningful and joyful Heritage Day.
Let us also prepare to vote on the 4th of November 2026 to continue building better communities together. Much has been achieved and yet much more still needs to be done.

PBF and ITC Strengthen Trade and Investment Cooperation

The Progressive Business Forum (PBF) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with International Trade Council (ITC) South Africa to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and market access.

ITC is a global peak-body chamber of commerce, connecting more than 28,000 verified organisations across 179 countries and providing a platform for international business engagement.

Through the partnership, PBF and ITC will strengthen B2B linkages, cross-border investment and access to African and global markets, helping turn partnerships into tangible economic opportunities.

PBF SUBSCRIBERS PARTICIPATED IN BRICS BUSINESS FORUM IN INDIA

The Progressive Business Forum (PBF) participated in the BRICS Business Forum in India, with 10 PBF subscribers representing diverse sectors of the South African economy.

On 11 September, the subscribers attended the BRICS Business Forum, which brought together business leaders, investors and governments and were addressed by Heads of State.

BRICS remains an important platform for strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation among member countries. For PBF subscribers, participation provides an opportunity to access new markets, build strategic partnerships and identify investment opportunities across BRICS economies.
