Community and chessed are core values of a King David education and last week, an Outreach Partnership Day brought Orange Grove Primary, King David Ariel and King David Primary School Linksfield together for a joyful celebration of music, sport, teamwork and new friendships! Grade 5s enjoyed a lively School of Rock program - singing, dancing and playing instruments, followed by mixed netball and soccer matches that built camaraderie between the schools. The day was filled with energy, laughter, and memorable moments, teaching our King David students that when children come together across school communities, they discover that friendship, kindness and teamwork have no boundaries.

As always, we are incredibly grateful to donors to the KDSF Partnership programme, whose generosity enables our students to participate in these meaningful experiences.

Community is a core value of a King David education and last week saw a wonderful display of connection and collaboration between King David Primary School Linksfield and their partnership school, Houghton Primary.

Foundation Phase students experienced unforgettable Youth Day celebrations filled with music, creativity, and teamwork. The day included a performance from the KD Marimba Band, Grade 2s from both schools working in teams to build their very own musical instruments and an energetic performance on stage. The day wrapped up with a fun-filled obstacle course with the KDL Grade 3s, after which the students exchanged heartfelt notes - a sweet, simple gesture that left smiles on every face.

Thank you to the donors to the KDSF Partnership Programme whose generosity enables meaningful engagement between our King David students and their friends from partnership schools!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate David Gosher (KDL 2020) for his outstanding achievements at the Wits School of Law Prize Giving Ceremony for the 2025 academic year.

David received three awards for the top performing student in the following subjects:
• Cheadle Thompson and Haysom Prize – Administrative Law
• Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Prize – Insolvency Law
• Justice Moseneke Prize – Insurance Law

This remarkable achievement reflects exceptional academic dedication, discipline, and intellectual rigour. David’s success also speaks to the enduring value of a King David education, which encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a commitment to excellence - equipping students with the confidence and foundation to thrive at the highest levels of academia and beyond. Mazeltov David!

A full-circle moment!
We are incredibly proud of Serena Steinhauer (KDVP 2018) who recently returned to the FEDA Festival as an adjudicator, joining a distinguished panel of theatre professionals to celebrate and evaluate the next generation of young performers. Serena first stepped onto the FEDA stage as a young performer in Grade 8 at King David Victory Park, where she discovered a passion for theatre that would help shape her future career.

Her journey is a powerful example of how a King David education encourages students to pursue their passions, embrace opportunities beyond the classroom, and develop the confidence and skills to achieve remarkable things. Serena Steinhauer

One of the greatest strengths of a King David education is that the connections formed at school often last a lifetime. A bush getaway, organised last month by classmates from the King David Victory Park Class of 1986, is a true example of the enduring bonds that continue long after the school years have ended. Cy Jacobs (KDVP 1986) shares his reflections on their special get-together below.
