🌍✨ Empowerment Through Sustainability! ✨🌍

In the quest to creating a brighter future where our youth thrive by embracing sustainable solutions like menstrual cups, we are able to tackle mental health challenges, promote gender equality, and enhance education for all girls through the advocacy of .

In .shipfoundation quest for sustainable solutions we will:

🌱 Connect the Dots: Promote sustainable choices that empower young girls and women to take charge of their health while protecting their planet. When we reduce waste and prioritize eco-friendly products, we foster a sense of responsibility and well-being.

💪 Empower Every Voice: By breaking down barriers and ensuring that everyone has access to the tools they need for a healthy menstrual cycle. Empowering young people with knowledge about sustainable period products like the menstrual cup, not only supports gender equality but also boosts confidence and mental wellness.

📚 Educate & Inspire: has created a community that values education, awareness and dignity within menstrual hygiene. By sharing information about menstrual health and sustainable practices, we can inspire the next generation to advocate for themselves and the planet in a relatable manner and one that is accessible to all, despite their backgrounds.

We will join the Call to Action buddy system: One for one, One for all!

A 2 way buddy system:
1. Buy 2 cups and donate 1 to a girl in need.
2. Buy 1 cup with a certain percentage added to the purchase which will go to the period care package, that will be donated to a young girl in need for their first cycle.

🌼✨ On October 11th, the International Day of the Girl Child was celebrated, a powerful reminder of the limitless potential within every girl around the globe. This day isn’t just a date on the calendar; it’s a heartfelt call to action to advocate for the rights of girls everywhere. It champions the need for their full participation in social, economic, and political spheres, while shining a spotlight on the unique challenges they face—challenges such as gender inequality, child marriage, and limited access to education and healthcare.

Established by the United Nations in 2012, this day serves as a vital platform for raising awareness and driving change. As we celebrated, we took a moment to reflect on the incredible organizations and platforms that tirelessly work to make every day a mission to uplift and empower young girls. One such organization is which has not only championed the cause of gender equality but has also been instrumental in shaping the journey of our founder, Nonhlanhla Manzini (.nonzz). Through their unwavering support, Nonhlanhla has gained the knowledge, skills, and confidence to stand up for her beliefs and understand her crucial role as a young woman in South Africa.

This image captures more than just a moment; it represents the profound personal journey that has equipped Nonhlanhla, as well as the countless young girls and women who have been positively impacted by Impact Drivers in the realm of advocacy. As we honor the month of the Girl Child, let’s take a moment to celebrate and give our heartfelt gratitude to with the support of for their transformative work. Your dedication and commitment are not just creating opportunities; they are igniting hope and empowering a generation of young leaders who will shape the future. 🌟💪

☀️ Within the Empower-Gen Xperience initiative this year, the project was centered on Stepping on GBV which corresponds with one of our 2024 goals :

- To serve and equip adolescent boys and girls within youth development, through informative knowledge and collaborations.

We are very grateful to have worked with Theodorah Ndaba Victim Support Centre because the work that they do is evidently changing lives. There Centre provides so many services and opportunities for survivors to not only better themselves but empowers the young women to better themselves when it’s time to face the world outside the Centre’s walls.

Thank you to everyone that played a part in this project, the support from all our inspirations guests that contributed to this day’s success really cemented the impact. Each and every one of you is appreciated!

Till the next EGX project next year!!

Hello Lightshipers! ☀️

On the 11th of May we stepped on gender based violence for our beneficiaries: Theodorah Ndaba victim support Centre, with the aim to not only raise awareness but to empower the survivors. Reminding them that they are more than adversity and the gender roles that confine their being. Thus as Lightship Foundation we engaged in this collaboration with within their ‘Walk a mile in my shoes’ series to join forces and ensure that at the end of the mile GBV was Stepped on!

The day was filled with so much engagement and activities that essentially cemented our purpose for this initiative.

These activities included :
1. Active affirmations and the understanding of gender based violence for adolescents boys and girls, addresses and led by
2. A young adults discussion and presentation of gender roles and how societal standards contribute to GBV
3. Self defense classes presented by a professional boxer to equip the ladies on how to defend themselves and most importantly, regain their confidence.
4. The toddlers were engaging in arts and crafts for Mother’s Day 🤭

Not only did we ensure that they left the day empowered and confident to take on the world but through donations within the walk a mile series, were able to donate resources that will assist them on a daily basis.

Lightship foundation believes that the solution to eradicate gender based violence in our communities is to first tackle and readdress the societal norms that bind us and blurs the lines of gender equality.

Together, we can rewrite the narrative and create a future free from violence.
We are worthy. We are enough and on the 11th of May we reclaimed our power!

EGX presents: 🌟Stepping on GBV 🌟🇿🇦

A groundbreaking initiative in collaboration with dedicated to raising awareness about Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in South Africa. This project aims to advocate & empower adolescent girls and young women to stand up for themselves, challenge gender stereotypes, and amplify the voices of survivors.

💡Did you know 💡
That approximately 51% of women in South Africa have reported experiencing GBV & shockingly 76% of men admit to perpetrating GBV at some point in their lives. That leaves about 25% gap. Despite efforts to address this social issue, GBV continues to pose a threat to the safety and well-being of individuals, highlighting the urgent need for transformative action and empowerment initiatives like “Stepping on GBV.”

💭 How does this initiative align with us ? 💭
This initiative falls under our 3rd organizational goal for the year, which is to provide solutions that are sustainable and correspond within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):

🔴🔵🟡🟢 Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality🔻

Which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. By addressing GBV and promoting gender equality, our organization contributes to creating a more just, inclusive, and sustainable society in line with goal no. 5, target 5.2.

So we believe that through this approach, we won’t just be empowering survivors of GBV but also the young girls and women who have been subjected to confirm to these societal gender roles.

On the 28th of November our founder had the pleasure of being invited to a Christmas party by Sekhusile Ekhaya Labantwana, hosted to celebrate all their benefactors, this included the children all the way to the sponsorships that assisted throughout the year.

We were so grateful to have been included in such an acknowledging event, our founder .nonzz was even asked to deliver a speech which was so great because it gave her a space to improve on her public speaking which has been one of her progressive goals. And speaking from a place of love and understanding made it so much easier because of the connections and partnerships built with Sekhusile and its children.

Much appreciation goes to this home, as we have been in the forefront as witnesses of the great impact they’ve made on the children’s lives and we are so grateful to have been on the ride !

We cannot wait to have more engaging and impactful projects with Sekhusile Ekhaya Labantwana on this next year.

With love and warmth

In about 15 days we will be making it to our Heritage month initiative, but as we all know that the foundation operates on a non-profit basis, we would kindly like to ask for donations of funds for as little as R10.

This donation will not only aid in facilitating all resources for the day but also catering for the children. Which will allow the foundation to perform at its optimal in regards to making an impact this Heritage Month.

Any amount counts.
