On 1 April 2026, Rustic Hoofs had the privilege of hosting children from the Guardian Angels Wildlife and Marine Trust, an NPO committed to environmental stewardship and working in partnership with the Department of Social Development (DSD).

This inspiring group supports disadvantaged youth, helping them transition from “street life” into a structured environment that builds leadership, encourages community contribution, and nurtures a deep respect for nature.

We enjoyed a truly fun-filled and meaningful day, where four youth leaders shared the message of Passover —reminding us that God gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins and rose again. It was a powerful opportunity for reflection, learning, and connection.

The children were treated to hotdogs generously provided by , age-appropriate Bibles from , and sweetie packs that brought plenty of smiles.

They went on an amazing horseback safari at .

We are excited about building a lasting relationship with this incredible group and look forward to hosting more children during the June/July school holidays.

💛 How you can help:
We are currently seeking donations for upcoming visits:

- Girl-specific sanitary toiletry packs (for a girls-only group from a children’s home in the East Rand)

- Sweetie packs

- Any additional items that can support these special days
If you would like to contribute or get involved, please contact us. Every donation makes a meaningful difference.

We had the honour of hosting Lighthouse from Rustenburg on 7 October 2025. It was truly a humbling and moving experience for all of us at Rustic Hoofs.

The children from Lighthouse, who have been removed from their parental homes due to various circumstances, enjoyed themselves enormously.

It was an experience filled with fun, healing, horse riding, and time out in the reserve—spotting various buck, our two resident zebras, and “Saartjie” the ostrich—created a day filled with laughter and joy.

We must also mention our beloved miniatures—Popcorn, Cookies, and Muffin—who were thoroughly spoiled with love, pats, carrots, and apples from the children. It was truly a special and unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

A heartfelt thank you to Caz and the staff from Lighthouse for giving us this opportunity to bring a little light into these children’s lives.

We would also like to sincerely thank Pick n Pay Hartbeespoort, Village Mall, Jacques, Anton, and Donovan for their generous donations of hotdogs for the children. Your support made the day even more special.

Without our sponsors, we do face challenges in continuing this programme, so please help us spread the word. We are anticipating hosting two more groups over the holidays. If you would like to contribute to this meaningful cause and help brighten a child’s life for five hours, please reach out to us.

We would also like to thank our anonymous donor for the Bibles that were gifted. Your kindness does not go unnoticed.

Please contact us to find out how you can make a difference.

🌸 A Day of Healing at Rustic Hoofs – 27 August 2025 🌸

On 27 August 2025, on a beautiful late winter–early spring day, Rustic Hoofs had the privilege of hosting POWA Khatorus East Rand for a special day of healing, a message of hope, worship, and horse riding.

Powa stands for People Opposing Women Abuse. They assist vulnerable women and children who went through abuse.
We applaud the amazing work they do!!

It was a truly joyful time spent with the ladies and their children, who ranged in age from 7 months to 10 years old.
The children were gifted with beautiful children’s Bibles, crayons, and little sheep kits to build, thanks to the generosity of a kind donor who heard Beate’s story on RSG, regarding our wonderful Rustic Hoofs program. For the ladies, we were able to share Bibles also donated by the same donor.

The children enjoyed hotdogs, juices, and sweetie packs, while the ladies were treated to a variety of platters lovingly prepared for the occasion. The laughter, smiles, and sense of peace shared throughout the day were truly a blessing, and we are deeply grateful for every person and donor who made it possible.

A special thanks to Estelle Gouws who gave an inspirational message of hope to the group and to Harties Horse Trail Safaris for making this day possible! But the biggest to our Heavenly Father who makes all things possible!

God really made horses SO special:

Did you know?

Horses offer numerous benefits to humans, including therapeutic, physical, and educational advantages.

Being around horses can naturally increase serotonin levels in humans, promoting positive mood and feelings of well-being.

This is due to the interaction between humans and horses, which can trigger the release of serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with happiness and relaxation. Additionally, the physical activity involved in activities like horse riding can further boost serotonin output.

They provide emotional support, improve mental well-being, and enhance physical health through activities like riding and caretaking.

Additionally, horses are valuable tools for learning, fostering empathy, problem-solving skills, and a sense of responsibility
