Tribute to Sergeant Mbali Msomi
To Msomi's family, SAPS family, friends and everyone who loved Mbali Msomi,
Our hearts are broken. We just heard that Constable Mbali Msomi passed away on the 16th of June 2026.
At LETS READ TOGETHER, we are still processing the loss. Just few weeks ago, Mbali stood in our hall at the Career Expo 2026 and spoke to our learners about bullying. She didn’t just read a speech. She looked our children in the eye and told them: _“Stand up for yourself. Respect others. Know where to get help. You are protected.”_
That day, she gave them reassurance and practical guidance on a topic that is not easy. She handled it with care, authority, and a warmth that made our learners listen and believe.
Mbali reminded our youth that police are not just uniforms – they are protectors who care. She showed up for Hammarsdale when she didn’t have to.
Thank you, Mbali, for your time, your voice, and your commitment to our community. Your session opened conversations our learners needed. Your impact will live on in every child who now knows they deserve to be safe and heard.
Our deepest condolences to SAPS, to her family, and to all who loved her. We pray for strength and peace for you all.
From all of us at LETS READ TOGETHER NPO,
Dineo Koloko & Team
_“A true servant of the people. Gone too soon.”
