Due to the high number of applications received, and to allow management adequate time to carefully review the applications and prepare for the interview process, applications will close today at 16:00.

📚International Literacy Day📚

On 8 September, St Mary's DCC visited St Mary's Pre-Primary School as part of our International Literacy Day celebrations. Through an engaging Read-Aloud storytelling session, we reached just over 30 young learners, creating a fun and interactive space where children could listen, learn, and enjoy the magic of stories. We believe that nurturing a love for reading from an early age can help children build confidence and develop language skills.

✨️Empowering Young Storytellers✨️

Our reading club sessions recently hosted an exciting digital storytelling workshop at RUCE: Rhodes University Community Engagement with learners from Nyaluza High School and Andrew Moyake School of Excellence. The learners were discovering the power of storytelling in the digital age; from creating their stories to editing their own videos. What they were learning in the workshop is how to tell powerful stories, digital storytelling techniques, as well as video editing skills.

A meaningful Reading Club session with grade 8 and 9 learners from Nyaluza High School, focusing on Makhanda's water crisis and how it affects their academic lives. The session created a space for learners to share their experiences, reflect on the challenges they face, and use storytelling to give voice to an important community issue. Brendan Williams

A child may not always remember every lesson they are taught, but they will remember the people who made them feel safe, heard, encouraged, and loved. This women's month we took a moment to listen to our children as they shared the women they love and appreciate at the centre. 🌈✨ At St Mary's Development and Care Centre, our vision is to be a happy, healthy, and caring centre where every child feels supported and inspired to grow.

A huge shout-out to our amazing SEF volunteers, Olwethu Kepe and Sokhana Moyikwa, who are helping make every day at the DCC memorable! 💚📚🎨 From assisting with homework to adding a splash of colour through painting, they're creating a space where learning and creativity go hand in hand.
