Kuyenda Collective The Kuyenda Collective seeks to promote systems thinking development in traditional education spaces

In Chiredzi South, Zimbabwe, the Chilonga Bridge has collapsed, and with it, safe access to school for learners and teachers in the area.

Makeshift crossings are now the daily reality. Add overcrowded classrooms, limited materials, and accessibility gaps, and you start to see how fragile rural education access can be.

Kuyenda Collective works with communities and decision-makers across the region to address these systemic barriers through advocacy, data, and on-the-ground engagement.

Safe infrastructure isn't an extra. It's the foundation.

🔴 Happening right now.

Social accountability isn't just about raising your voice — it's about identifying issues, gathering evidence, engaging decision-makers, demanding response, and following up until something changes.

That's the work. And young people are doing it.

Join the Kuyenda Collective and the GCE Youth Network live today as we hear from youth leading this work across the globe 👇 🔗 https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/xvQAWRZjSR6_t74mWClYaw

🔴 It's happening right now.

The Kuyenda Collective and the GCE Youth Network are live — exploring how young people are using social accountability to build stronger, more equitable education systems.

Because fixing education isn't just about more resources. It's about how the whole system plans, budgets, delivers, tracks, and learns.

We have something coming up that we are really excited about.

Tomorrow, Kuyenda Collective is joining the Global Campaign for Education Youth Network for a global online exchange. Young people from across the world will be sharing how they are holding education systems accountable — tracking budgets, generating evidence, and engaging the decision-makers who shape education in their communities.

Our Rural Youth Collectives will be in the room, sharing what they have learned from years of doing exactly that across Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

It is open to anyone interested in education advocacy. Register at the link below and join us. 👇

When Dalitso Mtaya found out that girls at a secondary school in Nkhata Bay were walking long distances daily — or dropping out — because there was no hostel, he didn't wait for someone else to fix it.

He raised it with the headmaster. He organised his youth network. They donated sand from Lake Malawi to help speed up construction that had already begun.

That is what being a Kuyenda Youth Champion looks like. Read Patience Kavalo's full piece on Sauti Zote. 👇

There is a difference between complaining about a broken education system and understanding how it broke. The Rural Youth Collectives in the Kuyenda Collective network do the second thing.

They track education budgets. They ask whether funding is reaching the right schools. They engage with the officials responsible for planning and hold them accountable — with evidence, not just frustration.

We wrote about who they are and how they work. It is worth a read.

In case you missed this one.

Sauti Zote — All Voices — is the section of our website where young people write about education in their own words. This piece by Valerie Chatindo is a perfect example of why it exists.

She visited our Mutoko RYCs in Zimbabwe and met young people who climb trees and hike up mountains just to get enough signal to share their stories. Her words: their spirits are willing, but the network is weak.

Short read. Worth it. 👇

Sauti Zote. In Swahili, it means All Voices.

It's the space on our website where young people share their stories, reflections, and opinions on education in their own words. We want to hear more youth voices!

Read what your peers are saying, and if you have something to say about education in Africa, this is your space. Share this post with someone who has something to say 👇
