📢 LAND BANK ENGAGEMENT – FEEDBACK

On Wednesday, 2 July 2026, the P.L.A.S. Alliance & Izwi Labantu Forum had the opportunity to meet with the Board of the Land Bank as part of its provincial engagements with stakeholders.

What we presented that:

🔹 The Blended Finance Scheme (60/40) must be revisited to acknowledge historical disadvantage.

🔹 Black farmers cannot all be treated as established commercial farmers – we are in a development phase and need special measures, in terms of both financial and non-financial support.

🔹 The current systems are not conducive to realising the Land Bank's transformation mandate and ensuring our farming sustainability.

🔹 We presented real examples of the struggles faced by black farmers, especially PLAS (land reform) farmers.

🔹 We acknowledge that government has a role to play to revisit banking regulations, grant allocations, and subsidies in relation to agricultural lending, specifically to support Black developing farmers.

🔹 We also presented our mission to attain title deeds and our current engagements with relevant stakeholders in government – and asked the Land Bank for their support in this critical matter.

The outcome:

✅ The Land Bank acknowledged our concerns.

✅ While bound by banking credit acts, they committed to seriously look at what we presented.

✅ Further engagement will take place through their Regional Office.

We remain committed to constructive engagement.
