Dogs on Trails. Let’s Keep It Clean. 🐾

We all love seeing dogs out on the trails. It’s part of what makes our forests and mountains feel alive and shared.

That said, we’ve had a few concerns raised around dog waste on trails, especially in the lower sections and busier areas.

If they p**p on the trail or right alongside it, please scoop it up and take it with you. Even if no one’s around.

If your dog knows to take it off-trail - huge kudos to you both. 🙌🏻

It makes a real difference for everyone out there.
Clean trails just ride and feel better.

Our trails are used by riders, runners, walkers, and families. Keeping them in a good space is something we all contribute to.

Let’s look after what we’ve built together.

Directional Trails - Saasveld

As use of the Saasveld trails continues to grow, we’ve had a number of collisions and accidents between riders - particularly where bikes meet each other coming around corners in opposite directions.

Back in November, we introduced directional trails in Witfontein, and it’s worked well. We’ve taken what we learned there and are now applying it to Saasveld.

We’ll be introducing directional (one-way) trails across parts of the network to reduce these rider-on-rider incidents and keep the trails flowing the way they were built to be ridden.

This follows standard practice across established MTB trail networks.

Here’s how Saasveld will be marked going forward:

👉🏻Climbing Trails
Bison · Graveyard · Forest Buzzard · Drongos · Great Escape

👉🏻Downhill Trails
Moosa · Ridgeline · Die Hark (from ridge) · Snake · Dam Climb · Root Farm · Whip Snake · Rooikat · Homerun

👉🏻Linking Sections
Bosvarkland (towards valley)
Valley (towards Snake start)
Sequoia (main road → campus)

Any trails not listed above remain bi-directional.

This rollout is focused on one thing: reducing rider collisions and keeping everyone safer on the bike.

You’ll start seeing signage at trail entry points, and updates will reflect on Trailforks.

When you head out, take a moment at the start of each trail to check the direction and ride it as marked.

Thanks everyone
We build it. We ride it.
