GPF Grootbrak veg voort teen kubermisdaad
Die GPF Grootbrakrivier het op 5 Mei 2026 ‘n waardevolle bewusmakingsbesoek aan Groenkloof Aftreeoord in Grootbrakrivier gebring waar kubermisdaad teen senior burgers aangespreek is.
Waardevolle inligting rondom kubermisdaad teen seniors is met die inwoners gedeel, asook waarskuwings oor die nuutste vorme van kubermisdaad wat tans die rondte doen.
AO Jan Combrinck van die SAPD Oudtshoorn was die hoofspreker tydens die geleentheid. AO Combrinck het beklemtoon dat senior burgers sagte teikens vir misdadigers is en dat dit noodsaaklik is dat hulle voortdurend ingelig moet word oor die gevare van kubermisdaad.
“Die misdadigers is genadeloos en seniors moet bewus wees van die taktieke wat gebruik word om hulle te teiken,” het AO Combrinck gesê.
Kowie de K**k, ondervoorsitter van die GPF Grootbrakrivier, het ‘n beroep op seniors gedoen om sulke bewusmakingsgeleenthede by te woon wanneer dit by aftreeoorde aangebied word.
“Dit is baie belangrik dat seniors hierdie praatjies bywoon sodat hulle hulself teen hierdie misdade kan beskerm,” het De K**k gesê.
Hendrien van AVBOB het die seniors ook toegespreek en die organisasie se dienste aan hulle verduidelik. Sy het spesifiek verwys na AVBOB se gratis boekie, Lewensleer, waarin belangrike persoonlike en administratiewe inligting aangeteken kan word om dit makliker vir familie en geliefdes te maak om ‘n oorledene se sake af te handel.
“Vul die boekie in en gee dit aan iemand wat u kan vertrou,” het Hendrien gesê.
Heerlike cupcakes is ook deur AVBOB geborg en deur die seniors geniet.
Jacky Carstens, voorsitter van die GPF Grootbrakrivier, het die bestuur en veral die matrone van Groenkloof Aftreeoord bedank vir hul gasvryheid en samewerking.
“Die GPF Grootbrakrivier en die SAPD waardeer dit opreg dat ons die geleentheid gehad het om hierdie belangrike inligting aan die seniors oor te dra,” het Carstens gesê.

GPF Great Brak continues the fight against cybercrime
The GPF Great Brak River visited Groenkloof Retirement Village in Great Brak River on 5 May 2026 as part of an awareness campaign focusing on cybercrime against senior citizens.
Valuable information regarding cybercrime targeting seniors was shared with the residents, including warnings about the latest cybercrime scams currently circulating.
Warrant Officer Jan Combrinck of SAPS Oudtshoorn was the main speaker at the event. WO Combrinck emphasized that senior citizens are soft targets for criminals and that it is essential for them to be informed about the dangers of cybercrime.
“These criminals are ruthless, and seniors need to be aware of the tactics used to target them,” said WO Combrinck.
Kowie de K**k, vice-chairperson of the GPF Great Brak River, urged seniors to attend awareness talks whenever these types of presentations are offered at retirement facilities.
“It is very important that seniors attend these talks so they can protect themselves against these crimes,” said De K**k.
Hendrien from AVBOB also addressed the seniors and introduced the services offered by the organisation. She specifically referred to AVBOB’s free booklet, Life Lessons, in which important personal and administrative information can be recorded to make it easier for family members and loved ones to handle the affairs of a deceased person.
“Complete the booklet and give it to someone you trust,” Hendrien advised.
Delicious cupcakes sponsored by AVBOB were also enjoyed by the seniors.
