Breaking the locks on child abuse
To every single person who responded to our call for help – THANK YOU – no questions asked you all just pitched in and for this we are truly grateful. We are honoured to have so many amazing friends who will always support our work. And then…..there will always be those community members who are the "Jury" waiting to “discipline us”. After a very highly emotional day, I receive the “discipline call”. Exhausted and after shedding some tears for these precious children, I listen and take the abuse, I just do not have the strength at nearly 23h00 to explain myself or argue. “What about the poor mother, where is she, no mother will just do that, did the children go to the hospital, who fed them, why were they locked in, why did neighbours not do anything, how did you count the number of days that the children were alone, they are just too clean to be neglected….(we cleaned them and dressed them warmly). Well…. Your Honor “I don’t know any of these answers”. Let me explain….when children are at risk, the aunties at Bobbi Bear go into fight mode, we get a call, we run we do what we need to, we get the children out. We then do the Police statement, get the child to a Government hospital for the District Surgeon to complete the J88 and then finally after hours and hours we bring these highly traumatised and scared children to Bobbi Bear. We run around to see if we have their size clothes, nappies etc. If we don’t have we may put a post up asking for help. They are given a nice warm bath, loved and cuddled, fed, sores cleaned and finally when they see they are safe, they fall asleep in our arms and we put them to bed, then into the early hours of the morning we sit down and yes then we get emotional because what we see cannot be unseen. Tomorrow morning we will get hold of the I/O at SAPS and piece together the why’s where’s and how’s. We do not do the investigations, the police do - we break the locks and rescue the children. Once again to our lovely supporters THANK YOU for never judging us and for understanding our work.

Today is a deeply meaningful day for The MEG Foundation, as we remember and celebrate the life of our Miya Emma Govender on what would have been her second birthday. Though Miya’s time on earth was far too short, her life continues to inspire hope, compassion, and strength through the legacy she has left behind.
The MEG Foundation was founded in honour of Miya Emma Govender, and carries her name as a symbol of love, courage, and remembrance. Through her legacy, the foundation aims to bring comfort and hope to families facing the challenges of caring for sick babies and children.
The rainbow in the MEG Foundation logo is not merely a rainbow, but holds a special and powerful meaning. In the Bible, the rainbow represents God’s promise — a promise of hope, peace, and faithfulness even after storms and suffering. It serves as a reminder that even in moments of pain and heartbreak, there is still light, love, and hope to hold onto.
The MEG Foundation stands as that beacon of hope for families walking difficult journeys. Through support, compassion, and community, the Foundation strives to remind parents that they are never alone.
Today, as we honour Miya's heavenly birthday, we celebrate not only the beautiful child she was, but also the lives her legacy continues to touch every single day.

Happy birthday Mish. Thank you for all you do for MEG❤️ You are sooo loved and appreciated💐

The MEG Foundation is currently assisting Operation Bobbi Bear with desperately needed medical supplies for the vulnerable children in their care.

Operation Bobbi Bear exists to rescue, represent, and reintegrate sexually abused and abused children, helping to minimize their risk of HIV/AIDS while guiding them toward healing and wholeness again.

The Bobbi Bear Home currently houses approximately 14 children, and every day is a struggle to provide food, medicine, education, and essential care interventions. These children have already endured unimaginable trauma, and they deserve the opportunity to heal in a safe and supportive environment.

The MEG Foundation is committed to supporting this incredible organization, and we are appealing to medical professionals, organizations, and members of the public to assist us in securing as many medical supplies as possible. Donations of nappies, food items, and other essential supplies are also urgently needed and deeply appreciated.

No child should have to face the horrific situations these children have been exposed to. Together, we can show them that they are not alone.
