The mosque has always been perceived as a place exclusively for Muslims for religious purposes. This, however, is a misconception. At the time of Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him), mosques were safe places where communities could gravitate toward. Mosques have the capacity to not only act as places of worship but as a place of education and a community centre.
In realising this, the South African Muslim Network, in collaboration with their partners, are preparing to welcome you for the annual 'National Mosque Open Day' on September 24th.
The National Mosque Open Day is an effort to bring Muslims and those of other faiths and backgrounds closer to one another, especially amongst local communities. Join us in observing Heritage Day by standing shoulder to shoulder with our friends and neighbours.
On the day, visitors can expect a meet and greet, tour of the premises, refreshments, take away literature pack and a question and answer session to address any questions you may have about Muslims or the Muslim faith.
All are invited!! We encourage you to bring your neighbours, friends and work colleagues with you. For a list of participating mosques or queries, visit our Instagram profile or page. Alternatively, you can send us a message at 084 333 3979.
