The Valley Trust (TVT) was established in 1953 as a socio-medical centre for health promotion in the Valley of a Thousand Hills (the valley) in the Outer West region of eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal. In its long and distinguished history, TVT has worked with local stakeholders to bring much-needed development in its target area including the introduction of piped water, roads, recreation halls and promoting the establishment of household and communal vegetable gardens. TVT has also formed strong bonds with local stakeholders and works closely with traditional and elected (municipal) leadership, local structures, government departments and other non-profit organisations. Vision
The communities of the Valley of a Thousand Hills living healthy and active lives as full participants in a democratic South Africa. Mission
To use health and other means to improve the overall well-being of the communities of the Valley while continuing to be an example of sustainable and holistic community development. Educating the community on living healthily and ensuring access to public health care.
2. Improving the wellbeing of households so they can address their own needs.
3. Being a bridge between local communities and resources that are needed by the communities for their wellbeing.
4. Increasing the capacity of community members to earn an income and secure employment.
5. Organisational sustainability - ensuring that TVT thrives into the future.

Any aerobics instructors in KwaNyuswa that could be part of our health wellness morning on the 17th October at The Valley Trust.
We are also looking for yoga, Pilates, nutritionist and life coach for future wellness sessions.

Stronger Together, On and Off the Field. 💚

Last week we hosted our Valley Trust Interschools Netball & Soccer Tournament. What an incredible celebration of sport, youth and community it was.

The energy on the field was electric and every learner played their heart out.
We are so proud of you all!

At The Valley Trust, our story is woven from these very ties.
Our roots stretch back to 1953, when our founder, Dr. Halley Stott, pioneered a holistic approach to health, recognizing that true wellbeing is inseparable from nutrition, environment, and culture. His vision was built on a deep respect for the indigenous knowledge, traditions, and resilience of the 1,000 Hills community.

Today, our living heritage is found in the everyday strength, deep cultural roots, and enduring spirit of the people we walk alongside. It’s in our traditional practices, our shared agricultural wisdom, and the unbreakable bonds of Ubuntu that continue to guide community health and development.

This Heritage Month, we honor the visionary foundation laid by Dr. Stott and celebrate the vibrant, living Zulu heritage of the 1,000 Hills, the heartbeat of everything we do. 💚
