A call for research project participation
The Lwandle Migrant Labour Museum is running a research project on experiences of children of migrant workers. The aim is to document, preserve, and disseminate the lived experiences of individuals who were raised as children in Lwandle township between 1986 and 1997, a period defined by the erosion of apartheid control systems and the emergence of democratic governance. During this time, children lived under conditions of illegality, spatial marginalisation, and institutional neglect, yet developed resilience and social bonds that continue to shape their lives.
Interested individuals will take part in workshop sessions atleast once a week, on a time that is convenient for everyone. The end result will be an exhibition showcasing their experiences as well as the effects on the migrant labour system in their current lives.
