🌟 A Day of Connection, Inspiration & Opportunity! 🌟

SAIBD had the incredible opportunity to attend the DUT World of Work Career Fair, and what an experience it was! 🎓✨

From engaging with bright and ambitious students to connecting with fellow industry professionals, the day was a wonderful reminder of the importance of creating meaningful bridges between education and the world of work.

A heartfelt thank you to Durban University of Technology (DUT) for hosting us and for putting together such an exceptional event. From the welcoming atmosphere and beautiful venue to the wonderful meals, incredible hospitality and unforgettable Gala Dinner, every detail made the experience truly special. 🥂✨

We also extend our sincere appreciation to SACAP (South African Council for the Architectural Profession) for their continued support and for creating opportunities for organisations like SAIBD, as a voluntary association under SACAP, to engage with and contribute to the broader built environment community.

It was a privilege to share insights, connect with the next generation of professionals and be part of an initiative that brings students, industry and opportunity together.

To the DUT team, SACAP, fellow organisations and everyone who contributed to making the World of Work such a memorable experience — thank you for having us! 👏🏽

Architectural professionals experiencing unresolved delays, poor communication, or ongoing challenges with planning submissions should be aware that there is an avenue for escalation.

As part of the recent engagement, SACAP was advised that these matters may be formally escalated to CoGTA for investigation and resolution where they remain unresolved through the normal channels.

This provides an additional mechanism to help address persistent issues and support improved efficiency and accountability in planning processes.

📢 Call for Public Comment | National Building Regulations (NBR) Amendment Bill

The Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Mr. Mpho Parks Tau, has published the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Amendment Bill for public comment and consultation.

This is an important opportunity for architects, architectural professionals, engineers, construction stakeholders, and all members of the built environment to review the proposed amendments and help shape the future of South Africa's building regulations.

🗓️ Public comments must be submitted within 60 days from the date of publication (03 July 2026).

Please ensure your comments are addressed to the Director-General, marked for the attention of Ms Anna-Marie Lotter, and submitted using the details provided in the Government Gazette:
