Thank you so much to Kate Mc Cabe from Mc Kitty Cat Rescue for being SO generous and sharing some of their recent donation of Hills with our kitties 🩷

It’s honestly so special knowing such a kind-hearted person - and we appreciate you more than you know, Kate 🥺

Pictured below is our most well-behaved cat, Freddie, sitting in front of the boxes (& with some trouble-makers gathered behind her).

Needless to say the cats are currently all licking their lips and grooming their faces 🐾🐱

So, Your Cat Had Kittens, and you found them GOOD homes!

Ah, the fun of kittens. Who doesn’t like kittens? And so you let your cat have a litter, just for the FUN! And you didn’t worry about finding them homes, you knew lots of people who wanted kittens.

Did you get mom fixed after that litter? Did you get all the kittens fixed before they went to new homes? Did you follow up with the people who took them to see if THEY had them fixed? Did you follow up to see if the people KEPT your kittens?

If you did not do every one of those things, YOU are not part of the solution – you are part of the problem. Statistically, that litter you helped bring into the world, just for fun, will go on to bring in more litters, and many of the offspring will be lost or abandoned, unaltered. Those kittens are a prime reason we have a free roaming cat problem – those not involved in cat rescue frequently don’t know they actually CAUSING the problem.

So, this spring and summer we have been overwhelmed with kittens, and last year’s babies are having babies, which brings us to the next point of a post about kittens – you NEVER LEAVE THE MOM! Not only do we want to avoid bottle babies – having the mom nurse them is so much healthier (and less expensive!) – but leaving mom to reproduce just continues the cycle.

Today, independent rescuers everywhere are taking care of situations caused by someone not having their cat spayed. Please – be a part of the solution; have your cat – and kittens – spayed and neutered asap! Our area boasts at least 2 clinics where feral cats can be altered free – and there are vouchers for free owned surgeries as well. Several shelters will spay your mom cat free and either take the kittens to adopt out, or alter them free for you too. Be responsible – spay/neuter today!

Thank you so much to Pulse Veterinary Clinic for squeezing Gulliver in on Monday 🥰 What a relief.

We’ve been desperate to have him trapped, tested, vaccinated, treated for parasites, and sterilised. Dr Khan did say he wasn’t the happiest patient but she and her team managed him perfectly, so he is finally all sorted!

He is quite the grumpy boy at the moment but is rather enjoying his food and treats (when no one is looking) 👀

Time to settle in Gulliver - well done for being so brave 🧡

Darling Niamh is recovering so well since her procedure 🧡

She is urinating normally, eating well, and is definitely starting to show her true (and very ginger) colours 🐱🤣

Next week she will get her stitches out, and until then she is isolated so we can monitor her litter box usage properly. Thus far though, she is one very pleased kitty. We do let her play and cuddle with her besties from the same feral colony, Prismo and Marcie, twice a day - and she has been throughly enjoying it! 👯

I’ll post an update once we hear back about the results from the stone analysis - but I am SO relieved they are now out of her little body! 🙀

Thank you to everyone who has supported this little girl. We still have an outstanding balance for her procedure, so if you’d like to assist please get in touch.

Lots of love 🧡

A HUGE thank you to Snip Veterinary Clinic for allowing us to host our vet bill fundraiser through them.

Dr Glynis has always been such a huge support to us and our rescue cats, and I can’t count the number of times Debbie has been there to not only assist us but just offer so much love and comfort (and tissues for my ugly crying). ❤️‍🩹

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the entire team at Snip (including Douglas and Aurora 🐱).

From us and all of the kitties,
We love and appreciate you 🩵

Congratulations to Irene Massey 😻
You have won a beautiful natural cat tree by Frankl and Forest!

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and contributed to our vet bills - your support is so appreciated, and we will certainly do this again in the near future. 🩷

Niamh is out of surgery and recovering. Will update tomorrow with more details but for now she is snug and warm, has eaten dinner, and is in incredibly good hands 🐾

Another update 🥺

A few hours ago Niamh started straining quite badly - unlike before. It was obvious that she wasn’t coping so I called her vet and was told to bring her in.

One of the stones has wedged itself in her pelvis and is completely blocking her bladder, which is now an emergency.

Niamh is undergoing the cystotomy this afternoon to remove the remaining stones - wish her luck.

We know you can handle this Niamh 🧡

🧡 Niamh update 🧡

Little Niamh had her follow-up scan yesterday with the wonderful Dr Kath at MediVet Hillcrest. A few hours earlier she passed another stone (pictured) and this time a bigger one!

The scans showed that the stones have reduced slightly - which is both incredible and unexpected news. Dr Kath is very impressed with this little cat - as are we.

The stones have reduced by about 2mm, so we are going to go another two weeks on pain meds and Royal Canin S/O prescription diet before doing another scan.

For now, we think there is a chance she can get through this without invasive surgery, so we are pausing the fundraising as thus far we have enough to have covered her bill yesterday as well as the next one.

Thank you so much to Dr Kath and the whole team at Medivet for the amazing care towards Niamh, as well as Dr Glynis and Debbie from Snip Veterinary Clinic for arranging her move onto a prescription food initially - that early intervention, I’m sure, has definitely contributed to her progress 🧡

Thank you to everyone supporting this little ginger princess - she is a little fighter 🐾
