𝐈𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐬 “𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐌𝐮𝐜𝐡?”… 𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝. 🫣

If someone asked “how much?” about a human baby, how would that land?

Why is it different, or is it? 🤔

Whenever I receive an enquiry about a kitten and the first question is, “Is there an adoption fee?” I always pause and wonder whether it’s worth responding at all.

This may seem harsh, but I don’t take homing living beings lightly. 🐾

Adoption fees are not price tags. They help cover a portion of necessary costs and act as a safeguard to ensure adopters can afford basic care.

The reality? Adoption fees barely scratch the surface.
They do not cover all the food, litter, supplements, bedding, or medication, and they certainly do not cover our time, effort, or petrol.

What they do cover is the essential veterinary care you would need to pay for anyway:

✨ Testing
✨ Vaccinations
✨ Deworming
✨ Tick and flea treatment
✨ Sterilisation

If a fee covering the basics is a concern, how can we ensure long term or emergency care? 🚨

When I receive “how much?” after rescuing and caring for a kitten, it honestly feels like I am selling a chair on Facebook Marketplace, bracing for the inevitable “what’s your best price?”

Except the “chair” is a living, breathing soul we have poured time, money, and love into. 💔

So no, there is not a “best price.” There is only the right home.

When cost is the first question, it suggests the adoption fee is the main financial consideration.
It is not. Not even close.

There is no predicting unexpected vet bills, and I can promise you they will exceed the adoption fee. 💸

Do not get me wrong. I am not saying you are a bad person or incapable of loving an animal. But leading with cost signals that finances are a major concern, even for the basics.

To protect both the animal and you from future hardship, it means I will naturally have my guard up from the start.

Because I am not looking for someone who can afford a kitten…
I am looking for someone who can 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 one. 🖤🐾

"Until every cage is empty, until every animal is free, we must not stop." 💔

The rescue of 2,000 beagles from a Wisconsin breeding facility has begun a full day ahead of schedule, and the world is watching live. Hundreds of activists descended on Ridglan Farms on Saturday, with organisers aiming to remove every dog from the site in what could become the largest open rescue of animals in US history. 🐶🚨❤️

The operation was backed publicly by Ricky Gervais and led by attorney and activist Wayne Hsiung, who was reportedly among the first to be arrested as law enforcement responded with tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets to control the crowd.

A smaller action in March had already freed 23 beagles from the same facility, but today's effort is on an entirely different scale.

Beagles are the most commonly used dog breed in laboratory research, and those at Ridglan Farms have spent their entire lives in cages, bred specifically to be sold into testing.

Whether all 2,000 make it out today or not, this moment has already changed the conversation about what the public is willing to accept.

🤍 𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐚, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐚 & 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐞 🤍

Four little girls with the sweetest story… and an even sweeter future ahead.

These darlings are around 𝟓.𝟓–𝟔 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐥𝐝 and were born to an abandoned mama cat. When the owner of Marmaduke Pets noticed tiny kittens running around her yard, she reached out for help.

We went out to assist and after searching everywhere, we could only find three. Despite combing the area, the fourth baby was nowhere to be seen.

𝟒 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, the missing kitten was found and reunited with her sisters. An absolute miracle considering she had been all alone 🤍

Mama was trapped on the very first day and received 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 including sterilisation, FIV and FeLV testing, full bloods, a dental, and all necessary parasite treatments. She tested negative and is now safe, loved, and officially part of the Marmaduke Pets family. She truly chose the right home to show up at.

Her babies are just as special. ✨

They are currently with the 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥, 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐦, where they are being cared for, socialised, and absolutely spoiled while they grow.

All four are 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠, growing into kittens who will make the most incredible companions.

They will be looking for their forever homes soon once they are old enough 🤍

🍯 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲, 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐞 & 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐞 🍁

These babies were discovered at the harbour by two incredibly kind women who care for the cats there. With no sign of mom and a busy, unsafe environment around them, it was clear they needed help, fast.

Now safe, warm, and thriving, Honey, Maple, and Treacle are 4 weeks old and growing into confident, curious little kittens who are ready to take on the world.

✨ 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐨:

• 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 (female) the tiniest of the three, but don’t be fooled… this girl loves her food and keeps up with the boys effortlessly

• 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐞 (male) the biggest baby, with the gentlest, sweetest nature. A total softie

• 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐞 (male) vocal, expressive, and full of personality. This little one has determination for days

All three are friendly, confident, and well socialised, the kind of kittens who will settle into loving homes with ease.

🩺 Treacle has tested FIV/FeLV negative. Honey and Maple will be tested closer to homing age to confirm their status, but at this stage we are confident they are healthy.

🏡 If all goes to plan, they will be ready to go to their forever homes at 𝟖 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐥𝐝.
