History of ZAOGA Forward In Faith Ministries International (FIFMI)
ZAOGA FIFMI is one of the fastest-growing Pentecostal movements to come out of Africa. Here’s how it started and grew:
The Calling of Apostle Ezekiel Guti
Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti was born 5 May 1923 in Ngaone, Chipinge, Zimbabwe.
His journey began in the 1930s with a supernatural encounter in the forest where God told him “Fear not, sin not”.
He preached for 75 years non-stop, from 1948 until his death on 5 July 2023.
Humble Beginnings – 12 May 1960
ZAOGA was founded under a gum tree in Bindura, Zimbabwe.
At first it was called AOGA, later ZAOGA Forward in Faith, and now known worldwide as Forward In Faith Ministries International (FIFMI).
In 1963, while praying in Bindura caves, God told him to learn English and preach in English “because you shall go to many countries with my Word”.
Growth and Expansion
From that small beginning, the ministry grew rapidly and is now in over 179 nations and states.
It operates under different names in different regions:
- Forward In Faith Church International
- Assembleia De Deus Africana (ADA) in Mozambique and Portuguese-speaking nations.
The vision is a self-supporting, self-administrating, self-propagating church. 62bd2356
Training & Institutions
To train leaders, Archbishop Guti founded Africa Multi-Nation For Christ College (AMFCC) in 1977 after carrying the vision for 10 years.
There are now 7 AMFCC Bible colleges across Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia, and Ghana.
Over 10,000 pastors have been trained and sent out.
Other Ministries
He also established:
Forward in Faith Children’s Home, Children’s Ministry
Gracious Women’s Fellowship, Husband’s Agape International Fellowship
Africa Christian Business Fellowship
Schools, colleges, a hospital, and a university.
He authored over 113 books.
After Archbishop Guti’s homegoing in July 2023:
The ministry is led by Archbishop Dr Joseph Joe Guti and Apostle Miriam NyashaGuti.
Senior Archbishop Dr Eunor Guti serves in an advisory role.
In May 2025, ZAOGA FIFMI celebrated its 65th anniversary, and in May 2026 marked 66 years.
The Heart of It: It started with one man obeying God’s voice under a tree in Bindura, and became a global movement reaching millions with the gospel of Jesus Christ
