We’re on the Ground, Taking Action Against GBV

At Heal Foundation, we believe real change starts at the community level. Recently, our Heal Volunteers shared a concerning trend — GBV cases in Malagazi are on the rise.

In response, our Board Members partnered with and the National Prosecuting Authority to launch a targeted program aimed at empowering our volunteers with the skills they need to make a difference, because every survivor deserves immediate support and protection.

🌟 **Our Focus for the Day:**
✔️ Understanding the realities of GBV
✔️ Knowing the legal protections available to survivors
✔️ Learning practical counselling tips to provide immediate aid as first line responders

Together, we are solving problems where they matter most on the ground, in our communities. Because change begins with us.

The HEAL Foundation, together with the NJVC, continues to make meaningful strides toward achieving sustainable goals through our tree planting project. 🌱

Our latest initiative took us to FOSA in Newlands, where we planted beautiful fruit-bearing trees—symbols of growth, nourishment, and hope for the future. 🍊🌳

This effort goes beyond planting trees; it represents our shared commitment to restoring the environment, supporting local ecosystems, and creating a greener, healthier community for generations to come.

Together, we are nurturing the earth—one tree at a time. 💚

🎒✨ Stationery Drive Distribution ✨🎒

We successfully distributed 300 stationery packs to students in need across various areas of Malagazi, Bonela, Pietermaritzburg, Avoca, and Phoenix — through our amazing volunteer network. This initiative would not have been possible without the dedication, teamwork, and generosity of everyone involved.

A heartfelt thank you to all who contributed, supported, and helped to ensure that everything went off smoothly. Together, we continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our learners and our community. 💙📚

Yesterday, our Board Members proudly facilitated a dynamic and informative session in PMB - Arya Samaj for Social Change as part of our 100th celebration. We are working towards launching the Heal Support Desk, a new initiative dedicated to serving everyone in our community.

This desk will provide counseling and support on issues like gender-based violence (GBV), mental wellness, and relationship challenges. We are also actively engaging with sister organizations to expand our reach and ensure comprehensive assistance for those in need.

During the session, we shared valuable psycho-social and legal awareness on topics such as domestic relationships, perceptions, blind spots, unconscious biases, and microhabits.

Together, we are committed to fostering a healthier, safer, and more aware community. Stay tuned for ways to connect with the Heal Support Desk and join us in making a positive difference! 💙
